Re: Fresnel Lenses, Cataract Surgery, and Sight Picture

Martin - thanks for your input. I shoot outdoor smallbore prone in the United States. I have considered that my vision is not necessarily the root cause of the issues. I am brave enough to understand that every shot I break is not perfect. But I have always been very good at identifying my mistakes ...

Fresnel Lenses, Cataract Surgery, and Sight Picture

I searched the sight for posts on cataract surgery and could not find anything very resent. In 2016 there was a recommendation to get multi focus lenses. I chose those. Not because of that post, but because I wanted to go forward with the best vision, glasses free that I could. Good news – my sight ...

Re: Pellets for air rifle

I got the Diabolo-Pellets, made for Champions Choice. They are good enough for me in my basement range, using a 50+ year old Feinwerkbau. Less expensive than the other high end match pellet offerings. And available at the time I needed them.

Re: Dry firing a KK500?

Don't do it! I contacted Walther and they do not recommend dry firing. I talked to one of the AMU guys at the CMP Nationals (the last time they had them). He was on his 5th firing pin. I never dry fired without a spent case or a snap cap. At 15000 rounds +, my firing pin broke. Walther sent a new on...

Or, count the revolutions. It is easier for me to count 2 and a half revolutions than however many clicks it is.

Re: Eley Team (2021) Ammuniton

Obviously, I got lucky with timing on the purchase. I just happened to check in to Good Shooting, saw some lots were available and ordered. I sent some friends an email later in the day and one of them said the sight was completely locked up. He could not even get it to open! Clean living I guess.

Eley Team (2021) Ammuniton

It looks to me like Eley replaced Edge with Team. I bought some from Good Shooting Inc., but have not had a chance to test it.
Does anyone have more information bout Eley Team ammo? I used to have good luck with the older Team that was discontinued.

Re: Setting up KK500 (Apperaturre Size)

Your front apperature should be "as big as you can stand". Bob Wright, a legendary Ohio long range shooter told me. Another shooter I met at the Smallbore National Matches (I wish I could remember his name, a friend of Wigger) told me when he encountered a competitor who professed the need...

Re: muzzle velocity vs accuracy

It is not so much accuracy, as effect of wind. In constant wind, there is no reason for accuracy to be different. At least that I can figure.

Re: muzzle velocity vs accuracy

Even after reading the explanation, the effect is still not intuitive to me. I have used JBM Ballistics, the on line ballistics calculator, to run the experiment. The math says that changing from 1050 to 1090 fps causes wind deflection to increase 0.3 inches at 100 yards and 0.1 inches at 50 yards. ...

Re: 22 LR ammo - Update

I went ahead and got a case a month ago. I have used probably 400 rounds. Sadly, I do not think this lot is as good as the original lot I reported on earlier. Definitely more soft rounds. I am not good enough to tell if I broke a low X vs. a low 10, but I do know that I did not break a 6, 7 or 8. An...

No noticeable difference in closing the bolt. It also runs in my AR-22 upper.

Re: 22 LR ammo

My inclination is to state "don't waste your money, this stuff is crap". Just so it won't sell out before I buy my next case. 40xguy, you should already know my response, since I have offered to let you test this ammo from my stash. When I first heard about how good this ammo really is, a ...

Re: Curious About New Rifle Test Cards

Tim is correct on the make of rifle. It was custom ordered in a 1907 stock.
Doesn't it strike anyone else as somewhat fraudulent that a test card came with a rifle that could not have been fired?
Geez, they could not have even but the bolt in the rifle and closed it.

Curious About New Rifle Test Cards

A friend of mine recently received a new smallbore rifle. It came, as usual with and acceptable test card. It also came with a chamber that would be impossible to actually chamber a round (or even close the bolt). See attachment. An extrusion from the chamber into the breach. The extrusion was not l...

The vendor I bought my KK500 from recommended the mechanical trigger, which I selected. In my opinion it is a wonderful trigger, and I am very happy with my choice. I do not know anyone who has the electronic.

Trigger Overtravel Adjustment

It seems to me that my trigger has too much over travel. But I have no idea what the recommended amount is.
Can anyone help?
