I shoot in a couple of Bullseye leagues and am usually in the range about 3 to 4 nights a week during the winter season. Two years ago my serum lead level was at 30.8 mcg/dl, about triple what's considered a safe maximum for an adult in the US. I started wearing a half-face 3M 6000 series respirator...

Get a box of as many different standard velocity/target loads as you can find and do some testing. My GSP decided it liked CCI SV (even more than it liked Green Tag) and I shot that for a few years before it became difficult to find, and a lot more expensive when it was available. I switched to the ...

Very much still in business, as far as I know. Not making excuses, but I had heard that Steve was planning to move to new space, so maybe he's in transition. This is the first negative review I've seen - he usually gets very good press here in New England.

One of my clubs (Gardner [MA] Rifle and Pistol) was very active in the USRA until last year, and I've shot in several of their postal matches. In addition to the regular Gallery Course, they had matches in slow-fire any centerfire, slow-fire .45, single-action revolver, double-action revolver, etc. ...

I bought an LP50 about two years ago so I could practice in my basement. I shoot primarily the NRA Gallery Course with a Walther GSP and Ultradot, so I set up the LP50 with the same model Ultradot and adjusted the trigger to approximately the same 2-lb pull. The grip angle is quite a bit different f...

My business partner is good friends with Steve, the guy who owns The Shooters Box, a gun store here in Massachusetts. He told me last week that Steve had been in contact with the manufacturer of the old Gun-Ho boxes and, if things worked out, was planning to revive the line. I just checked out his w...

My wife has very small hands and is very comfortable with the Walther KSP200 with Rink extra-small grips. The Walther has been extremely dependable and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, but I have heard of (and personally seen) problems with the IZH-35, so be aware. I'm afraid I can't refer you t...

I shoot mostly at 50 ft, and sometimes shoot matches at 25 yd at the Smith & Wesson facility. I generally do better at 25 yd, and most of the guys I shoot with agree.

Steve at The Shooters Box is a great resource. You can also find the standard Gun Ho boxes, along with some alternatives, at Champions Choice (www. champchoice.com), a place that all target shooters should become familiar with.

My pistol box has scope arm w/ a slotted track. I don't need the entire assembly, just the piece that screws into the base of the scope.

The other minus for the new Walther SSP is the unavailability of a scope/red dot mount. The Walther GSP Expert is my favorite gun. It's designed to last several lifetimes. Mounts for dot sights for the SSP are available here: http://www.waltherusa.net/ A couple of the guys on my Bullseye team are u...

I can't help much, except to say I've got the same problem with mine. When it was new a couple years ago that pin worked as it should, now it's very difficult to push in and when I eventually succeed sometimes won't easily pop back out. Very annoying considering how much these guns cost. I live only...

I've been loading the equivalent of .38 Special target loads in .357 cases for nearly 40 years with no problems whatsoever. Because the .38 started life as a black powder cartridge there's always a lot of extra space with modern powders - the .357 case is only a tenth of an inch longer, so any addit...

Still turns in respectable scores, though not the same as when he was younger, whi...

It goes on to state that these crystaline (read HARD) structures develope "SHARP" edges. The normal lead structure is a rounded edge. Crystal structure and hardness are totally unrelated properties of minerals. Talc and calcite are both crystals, yet are very soft (1 and 2 on the Mohs har...

Thanks for the detailed photos, Kent. It's very clear from them that the area I was thinking of is not contoured to accept a Weaver mount. The angle of the photo on the Walther web site made it look that way (to me, anyway).

BadMOJO - from the pictures of the SSP I've seen on the web, it looks like the top part of the frame between the ejection port and the rear sight is shaped like a Weaver rail and (if so) could be used to mount a red dot using a single ring. Is that the case?
