U.S. Int'l Muzzle-Loading Team Now Recruiting

The title says it all. I'm Team Captain, and we're looking for some good shooters to go to distant, exotic lands; meet exciting, unusual people; and defeat them in international sporting competition. No, it's not quite shooting a 1911, but it's not black magic, either. Our top pistol shooter is a gu...

Re: Olympic BREAKDANCING ???

Well, shooting is an honest sport. No thugs, no drugs, no sex scandals. It just doesn't fit in with the modern Olympics.

Re: FWB P8X

Was/is there some kind of discipline with those pistols? Yes. The Muzzle Loading Associations International Confederation (MLAIC) is the international governing body for black powder shooting. They hold a World Championship every other year - about 25 nations field team, around 400 competitors. FWB...

I wish FWB would get off their duffs and get back into making black powder revolvers.

Re: Does anyone shoot 60 shot AP using Point of Aim.

Yup. I used to use poster paint, in the brightest orange I could find. Not the fiber-optic gadgets, just good honest paint. But this trick works well only in good light. If you are shooting from a covered firing position, it's a whole lot less effective, and I would recommend black sights and a sub-...

Re: Does anyone shoot 60 shot AP using Point of Aim.

I shot center for a long time, but most of it was outdoors...and with a front sight painted fluorescent orange. I switched to a sub-six when I got onto the International Muzzle-Loading Team, as their rules require either black or white sights.

I'd say that you are doing OK. Things could be worse...you're headed up. I've been bleeding points for four years.

Re: Rimfire vs Air - is there a "better" choice?

I've got both...but the air pistols see a whole lot more shooting. Between the cost and the convenience, there's no question that AP beats rimfire as a training tool. Especially when you have the AP range laid out in the living room.

Hell, match anything is scarce at SHOT. ARs, AKs, 1911s, Glocks, and Glock clones. I'd much rather go to IWA Nuremburg.

Agree 100%. USA Gymnastics is a bleeding wound. Heaven alone knows what the final cost to the USOC will be when the lawsuits are all settled.

Dr. Alan Toler. www.customsightpicture.com. I've been going to him for the last dozen years...and my only regret is that I didn't start a dozen years earlier.

Re: Rink or Nill grips

As some other people have mentioned, the grip makers are like shoe makers...certain ones will fit you like a glove, others won't. Nills fit me perfectly, other folks swear by Rink. Or you can just get one of the Toz-35s with a grip blank. :-)

Re: Buying my first air pistol! Recommendations please

Back to the OP... The LP10 is the current gold standard in air pistols. Everybody else is trying to beat it. As to Rover's comment, it's up to you. As a pure practice arm, an SSP gets rid of the cost and trouble of SCUBA tanks and/or pumps. If you expect to shoot it in a match, a PCP is a lot less b...

Re: Do You Evaluate Your Shots in a Match?

Depends. Early, yes. In AP, where I'm not top-flight, yes. Muzzle-Loading? If I'm shooting well, it pays to just shoot.

Re: Which Pardini model to get for ISSF and BE events?

A lot will depend on what your shooting plans are. The Bullseye version has a heavier bolt for greater 50 yard accuracy. If you are thinking about RF, it might not be the best option. On top of this, a full-hous BE gun will have a red dot mounted. If you are putting that as your top priority, that's...

Does anyone have a point of contact within the World Anti-Doping Association? Some questions have arisen that I need answers to. Thanks.

Depends. There's a critical mass required to sustain a match - 8 to 10 shooters. You may need to organize one yourself.

I think .32 would be more popular if the guns were available. Smith & Wesson could probably sell a run of Model 16s by subscription.

Re: rapid fire air pistol

Ranges IMO need to foster a true "club" environment. Look at how many people go to a golf club to eat, drink, meet other members, and only occasionally play golf. Shooting venues need the same feel. Bring capital to invest. I've been to clubs like that in Europe. We held the 2014 World Mu...
