Re: Advice on S&W model 41

For what it's worth I have an older 41 and I used to clean it after every trip to the range and I assumed that was the reason it has never gave me any grief. A few years ago I started cleaning it after every 1000 rounds and it did not seem to make a difference, still shoots great.

Re: Advice S&W 41 vs HS Victor

I have an early 1970's model 41 that came with a 7.375 inch barrel, it shoots well with any ammo that I have tried in it but I shoot CCI SV because of the price. I also have extra barrels in 5.5 inch and 5 inch and they work fine as well. It seems like the 41's come in two flavors, one like mine and...

Re: gun choices for .22 target

I have a model 41 and am happy with it. If you want lighter weight for that pistol you can track down one of their older 5 inch "field" barrel these really light the pistol up. Or you could get a Clark 5 inch barrel they are lighter as well.

Re: New target shooter looking for gun recommendations

While most of the really serious bullseye shooters are shooting various Euro guns now starting out with a Ruger MKV is not a bad idea, they are accurate enough almost always reliable and inexpensive. If you go the S&W model 41 route I would go with a very clean older one, some of the 41's are fu...

Re: Improve the FAS 6004

I tried this tuneup on my FAS 6004 that I bought a few months ago, the rubber washers from McMasteers did not fit but I did the tuneup and used the extra washer that came with the pistol and I think it helped a lot, when I shot it I got cleaner holes in the target and had to drop my rear sight by ab...

I see the part where the original poster enlarged the shims with sand paper, sorry I missed that.

Re: Improve the FAS 6004

Neat write up. Just an FYI I tried this tune up on my new FAS 6004 and it appears to me that the dimensions of the barrel where the washer and o-ring fit in the write up has changed slightly and the washer and o-ring are just a bit too small. I am going to see if I can get some slightly larger washe...

Re: Non pro shooter looking for first pro quality .22 pistol

Lots of good choices out there, I am a so-so shot but love my older S&W model 41 with it I know that if the shot is not in the x ring it was the nut holding the grip not the gun. I bought mine as a "new" used gun from Dave Carrol several years ago and it has been a joy to shoot and see...
