prep for finals
Getting the finals is an achievement and the is usually little between the qualification 1st and a few below, maybe even 8th. Doing finals really helps and the more you do the better they become. Mental training is important to prep in the minds eye what is ahead as is a strategy for the 10 shots. K...

The early Crossman CO2 cylinders were not a robust as the later FWB and Walther CO2 cylinders. Several split or “broke rapidly” causing injury to their owners! One friend who was very competitive at the time had a lucky escape with his unit and quickly changed his kit (not to mention his underwear!)...

FWB80
I had one of these 20 years ago for a few years. The FWB65 and later the FWB80 were the best shows in town at the time as the Original 10 was dogged with the weight/balance, the FAS 604 (un-tuned) lacked velocity for reliability out of the box for 10m and the Crossman CO2 was literally lethal and we...

When I was reloading .32, Lapua was the best and GFL / Geco nearly as good. Magtech (CBC) was only good for a few reloads but considering the low purchase cost of the factory ammunition, this is understandable. I would certainly expect 10 quality reloads. Best results are obtained from marking the b...

Sorry I did not chronograph the bullets. I am reliably told they are fine but would be interested to know outcome from forum members with greater access to their pistols? I was training 20 and 10 second series. Out of 250 rounds, six escaped into the eight ring and one into the 6, all errors were de...

Lapua OSP25 –v- RWS R250
Has any completed any tests with either of these brands of .22lr ammunition for the new ISSF rapid or ISSF standard pistol. I would be interested to know any results with either using the new Pardini pistol. Due to limited overseas training opportunities, my interest is mainly standard pistol but cu...

Manuals?
Many thanks all. Any scans of manuals for the <<new>> Pardini models would be much appreciated. I will have to “hit the deck running” with these given our very few days training overseas with any 25m ISSF shooting.

Testing CM84e
Think I have posted on this before, some new info in below. Eley test in Birmingham, UK clamp barrel into massive vice, weight is 1-2 tonnes. They use brass jaws to the vice so no marks. Lapua test in Berlin, Germany (S&K). They don’t have a pistol test rig but my team mate took his wooden rig (...

New Pardini .22 and .32 setup, spares and query help
I have ordered a new Pardini .22 (electronic) and .32 (manual). This may seem a strange post but are the any tips regarding their setup/configuration or essential accessories/spares I need to consider. My Hammerli SP20 frame has cracked, the third in our squad in as many years, however, we shoot our...

The is the “old” AP40 and the “new” AP40. The old Hammerli AP40 was actually made by SAM and very light, the grip had few reference points so a bit tricky to replicate grip hold. I had serial number 007 and shot about 1000 rounds through it, a team mate then purchased it from me and used it for abou...

Would urge some caution when selecting specialist shooting shoes. If you have an in-line stance, the Sauer heels are quite high and I know several UK shooters including myself subsequently moved to AHG as they are very flat and do not tip you forwards, others like the Sauer arch support so best to t...

We have had a lot of success with the Steyr LP2 in the 11-16 age group. I have both a long and short (in fact very short for 25m training!) 162ei but even with weights off and installing small grips, the balance and feel is not as good as the LP2 junior. The juniors did like the feel of the Morini t...

The Patriot Firstly, I would not consider purchasing this pistol if I had ready access to a conventional ISSF centre fire pistol, I don’t, so I bought it! The pistol has its faults and I list these below, however, it is an excellent training aid for centre fire precision and to an extent rapid. I ag...

The ejection problem <<may>> be due to crud building up beneath the breech block and the block travel inhibited. If you search for earlier posts, Mark Briggs (Canada) did an excellent technical procedure for this. I and several others in UK have completed this without any problems. The document refe...

In addition to my earlier post – I think it is important to make sure that the ammunition is not letting you down. If, for example, the ammunition can not hold the 10 ring (and we have seen several budget brands with this problem) then you are probably not doing your self any favours if you generall...
