Re: Buying Advice: Match or Plinking Pistol

Your English is far better than my German!! Since you’re in Europe it would seem a used match gun would be a very reasonable purchase and leave you with no alibis where your pistol is concerned. Just a caution on the Ruger recommendations others have voiced: The grip angle on the Ruger Mk series is ...

Re: Shots are Low and Left

You can do "ball & dummy" solo, you just have to learn to load the magazine & insert it in the pistol (safely!!) with your eyes closed. Take a mix of 3 live rounds & two dummies, close your eyes & scramble them up a bit before loading the magazine. Insert the magazine in t...

Re: Compact Bullseye Locking Range Box

I like that bag; it looks discrete and comfortable. Adding a metal latch for installing a small padlock would not be difficult to your leather bag. That should make that bag in compliance with the law (but, I'm not a lawyer). I often carry my pistols in a old gym bag when going to a local range. Th...

Re: Compact Bullseye Locking Range Box

Harbor Freight has number of cases that might fit the bill. Some of them have internal, adjustable, partitions with pick-apart foam. Most of them have locks because they are designed to carry tools for service techs. Size of the ones that I use is 12 1/4, by 17 1/4, by approx. 5 1/5", inside m...

Compact Bullseye Locking Range Box

I go the range to practice on weekends and after work sometimes. In the case of the latter I need to leave my pistols locked in the car as they are verboten within my workplace. In the parking lot, without me and my carry permit, by law they are supposed to be in a locked case, as silly as that may ...

Re: Walther GSP Trouble Shooting?

Gwhite My Club has an experienced gunsmith, with hands on knowledge of the GSP, he even uses one. I should see him over the weekend. I will ask him if he can help. What age is the one you are having problems with. Some parts diagrams from Walther mention these serial number ranges. Serial number 56...

Re: Shots are Low and Left

Many thanks to both of you for taking the time to respond. I will give all this a try. I definitely feel the difference between AP release (effortless) and the more deliberate ‘squeeze’ on my .22 I’m sure I can benefit from some coaching, and the dummy loads were on the top of my to-do list. I tend ...

Re: Walther GSP Trouble Shooting?

Recalcitrant persistence in obvious error is not the same as dignity. Dignity is the ability to learn, to correct oneself, and to grow. Alexander Me thinks you ought re-read your posts here as a shining example of what you’ve described right there. You’ve basically repeated the same insults ad naus...

Re: Walther GSP Trouble Shooting?

It never ceases to amaze me how anyone can find it rewarding on any level to be overtly disrespectful to someone they do not know and have never met. I’m in this sport and on this forum for the passion I have for shooting, as well as for fun and enjoyment and connecting with others (also a reason fo...

Shots are Low and Left

I seem to have developed a bad habit when shooting .22 slow fire, of grouping the bulk of my shots low and left. Its not a sighting issue as it happens on more than one pistol, and from the bench when locked in, the sights are spot on. It does not seem to happen with rapid fire, nor does it happen w...

Re: Walther GSP Trouble Shooting?

The current batch of CCI SV I've been running through has had sporadic issues with wax (too much) on many boxes in the case - usually it seems like half the rounds in the affected box are overly waxed (requires pushing the rounds out of their plastic tray manually scraping off wax in the process) . ...

Re: Walther GSP Trouble Shooting?

Not mentioned, perhaps because its painfully obvious, but since its a feeding/extraction issue - Have you checked the breech for any anomalies such as indentation from any errant dry-firing? If you have a reamer you could try a few rotations on the breech just for good measure. Otherwise my money's ...

Re: Hammerli 208 International Rear Sight Blade Swap

A big thank you to Leon (his user name) who took the time to PM me and lay down a detailed explanation of how to change the sight blade. With this lengthy description and his encouragement, it took about ten minutes to do the task. What a generous community this has been! https://s17.postimg.org/n2h...

Re: Hammerli 208 International Rear Sight Blade Swap

Have you tried simply unscrewing (turning CW) the rear sight windage adjustment screw? On every rear sight I've disassembled in a similar configuration, all that pin does is serve to engage the detents - which prevents the screw from turning freely - and provide click adjustments. Care should be ta...

Here is the opposite side. The only access it seems is to what appears to be the other end of the screw, but not the pin(?).

Hammerli 208 International Rear Sight Blade Swap

Can anyone explain the proper procedure for swapping it the rear sight blade on a Hammerli 208 International. The best I’ve been able to find is an exploded diagram which is of little use, and a thread here with only a partial answer. In the picture here you can see there is a flush-inserted pin in ...

Re: Walther GSP Bolt Lockback

I figured it out. I'd forgotten that I'd removed the trigger assembly last time I used it, to adjust the trigger depth. When I disassembled it this afternoon to see if I could figure out what was going on, I noticed that when I'd re-inserted the trigger assembly I'd let it pinch the spring loaded le...

Walther GSP Bolt Lockback

I have an early GSP that I've been using for a few years on and off. It is of the vintage that does have provision for the bolt to lock back after the last round in the magazine. It has worked this way for all the years I've had it, but suddenly has stopped working and I'm at a loss to see why. It w...
