Since you mention Windows 10, I'm going to guess this heap is running Windows 7. Don't waste your time. Literally anything on the shelf at Walmart will outperform it.

Re: Chamber flag question

Mine is a Hammerli Xesse and Larry told me not to dry fire it without the chamber buffer. I looked up in the manual and and at least in mine, it says never to dry fire witout the chamber plug. Interesting, I stand corrected (sorry!). It seems this was added to the manual recently - earlier versions...

Re: Chamber flag question

Yep, that's Larry's design, great piece. Walther now ships a similar plug with the X-Esse and P22, it's blue and Walther-branded. If your Hammerli is a Trailside or X-Esse, it can actually be dryfired safely without the plug. Says so right in the manual, the firing pin is super-robust and does not t...

Re: Baikal IZH-46 Seals

I haven't needed to replace mine (yet) but I have always felt that a carefully selected o-ring would work. It would be rather soft, and would be perhaps 8mm o.d. and 4mm i.d., that is, about 2mm thick. Has anyone ever tried this?

Re: Another Izzy malfunction question

Goop on the sear. My AP-46M had a huge glob of it from the factory, same symptom. It's hard to get in there to get at the buildup, so you may have to resort to a solvent spray. But since it's recent, maybe just a drop of oil to soften it followed by a blast of compressed air to move things around.

Re: Yet another cleaning thread

The fix for all of this nonsense is to keep your chamber clean! Larry Carter (target shooter, gunsmith & importer of Hammerli & Benelli pistols, RIP) had a set of notes on how to keep Benelli .22's running smoothly. The first question after almost every problem category was: Have you cleane...

Great trick, thanks!

Google will happily search TargetTalk by adding "site:www.targettalk.org" to the search terms.

Maybe you're referring to this "folding front sight" product? http://www.joniskeit-1.de/Klappkorn/klappkorn.html

.22cal bronze brushing. And then remove all trace of oil and grease with a cotton swab, and the same for the weights with a wipe. They should be dry and loose.

Re: Yet another cleaning thread

No patch, no pull through, just a quick insert-twist-remove. It works to finish the match every time. Of course, I keep up on my maintenance schedule for the most part. Your students' pistols may need the extra attention. I find that asking people how often, and how, to clean, yields even more answe...

I got a LOT more carbon out after it had "already been cleaned" with the nylon brush. I'm not going to bother with nylon again... Me too, but at the line if the gun starts to hiccup to tell me the brass isn't extracting smoothly, I actually don't want to do a deep clean. I just want to kn...

1) The brushes don't last long. I can feel that they are less aggressive after only 5 uses. I'm going to guess this has to do with the back-and-forth twisting that the chamber brushing does. The bristles normally lay over in the same circular direction as they're pulled through the rifled barrel, b...

Re: Rink Grip Steep

Rink sometimes call it the "USA" option. The grip is more vertical, less raked. It's especially noticeable on the Pardini, which comes with an angle that requires tilting the wrist to the point of locking, and which the Rink "steep" grip makes much less painful.

The Mantis 3 is a commercial livefire accelerometer with a Bluetooth LE connection. I bet you could convince them to give the students access to their API and get some interesting data. I strongly feel it's not just the weight. The difference between rearranging springs, removing the springs, and ev...
