Re: Steyr LP10 "puffing" after dry-firing...
When you are done dry-firing a Steyr, depress the trigger to make sure it isn't cocked, unscrew the cylinder just enough to hear the hiss, and put the cocking lever all the way down. This will place it in a storable form. Keep the cylinder on, just unscrewed enough that it does not form a connection...

Re: Steyr LP10 "puffing" after dry-firing...
One more thing. When you are done dry-firing, unscrew the cylinder (which you should be doing anyway) slightly from the pistol until you hear air escaping. Then lower the cocking lever all the way. I'll bet that you won't get the sound. That "put!" is something like those newfangled keiste...

Re: Steyr LP10 "puffing" after dry-firing...
My evo does that. I always assumed it was just the cylinder making the connection with the rest of the pistol... It sounds similar to the sound made by my air cylinder when I attach it to the air pump. I don't think it's an issue, just a design thing, but if anyone doesn't believe this, I'd like to ...

My money's on a seal problem. Have you ever had one get stuck in the barrel and just not exit?

Re: Ultimate pellet tester?
I'm personally of the opinion that my interactions with pellets consist of the following: 1. Pick it up. 2. See if it's not round. 3. Put it in the gun. 4. Shoot it. Nowhere in that process does posting about them on forums come into the picture. If you're worried about pellets being flattened, just...

Re: Steyr LP10 grip: 97mm on a medium?
As best I can measure, my hand is ~97mm from just below the knuckles across. Up to 100mm if I forcibly extend my fingers, maybe down to 95 if I relax my hand. There's a lefty LP10 up for sale with Mediums, am I asking for trouble if I buy it and try to use the grips? I've always figured in new grip...

Re: Best Triggers for Air Pistol
GWhite, again a very interesting description. So, what would be the second stage movement for a trigger to be defined 'rolling'? would the force linearly increase with the displacement in such a trigger. I have finally managed to keep chicken finger under control by literarly 'controlling' the move...

*clap clap*
Great letter. I hope this gets adopted.
And I hope that other federations stand up for their athletes as well. Silence speaks just as loud as words.

Re: Steyr tools
I have no idea what a "slotted cheese head screw" is and I don't think I want to. Does it differ from the "phillips cheese head screw"? I have found that German companies will spend millions of $ to engineer a firearm that will put one round on top of the last one all day long. ...

Re: Steyr tools
"slotted cheese head screw" Is that like a Torx head? No, it's a circular head with straight parallel sides, with a single slot for a flat screwdriver. What's funny is those two screws definitely have hexagonal nut slots, not a flat screwdriver slot. So I'm not sure why they're called a s...

Question. What is the name of the steyr evo 10 tool that you use to adjust the rear sight part 38? http://www.steyr-sport.com/en/downloads/steyr-air-pistols/manuals/99-steyr-evo-10-1/file I can't find the darn allen wrench and I'm pretty sure it's not coming back. It's the smallest one in the set.

Re: AP Pistol Shaming
I think any improvement in scores is more due to better training and technique than technology. I believe that this is true. As anyone who has put an air pistol on a ransom rest can tell you, these guns shoot pretty damn accurately. Way more accurately than any human can shoot. The variable in the ...

Something is up with Steyr and U.S. importers. I'm not sure what, but the outage has lasted a while.

Re: AP Pistol Shaming
I think you need to take a look in the mirror and determine whether you are speaking to others or yourself. I haven't seen that sorta stuff on the forum. And if it is, I fail to see why someone else's opinion of your gun should matter that much. The only opinion on my how well my gun shoots that mat...

Youtube is a great way to add to the world's store of experience. Just be ready for thumbs down and inane comments when you thought you did a good job. I rarely show my face as its usually irrelevant to the content. Pick content that hasnt been covered when you do a search, or has been covered badl...

Re: My view on "Buying points"
Thanks for all the replies, guys. I appreciate the comments, both constructive and critical. We all have different opinions on what and when a gun should be bought. My point isn't to answer that question. It is to provide a write-up for someone who is completely new to the sport so that they don't h...

Re: My view on "Buying points"
Eh, I got a little into the rhetorical flow, sorry. Didn't mean for it to be so grandstanding. I wanted to make the topic mainly because of the second part of that sentence. There are a lot of people who get confronted with that equipment debate who don't know which option is right for them. I thoug...

My view on "Buying points"
Okay I'm gonna jump on my soapbox about this for a second. As someone who just bought a gun to "buy points," I'd like to share my experience so that hopefully put this old argument to rest. In a nutshell: You're not buying points with $$$. Ain't nothin' being given to you! You're buying th...
