Re: New NRA $$$ Cry!!!

I find myself competing with CMP competitions more because of things like this. Also, USA shooting. The NRA performs a vital function in our society, but it's not competitive shooting. It's lobbying. It should probably get out of the business of competitive shooting. It's not lucrative for the NRA, ...

Re: Loose rear sight n izzy

It sounds like the orange chalk I use would probably be OK. It's just orange and not very "day-glo". Yellow or white works, but the orange tends to stand out a bit better. Again, the point is not to cover the entire blade, just put a small mark that requires TRUE visual focus to discern. ...

Re: Left Right Spread Issue

Okay no new advice from me but since I'm a word guy, I'd like to point out a contrast. I use the terms "slowly depress" and "trigger release." GWhite uses the terms "shot break" and "final squeeze." You use the term "trigger pull." Personally, I'm a ...

Re: Left Right Spread Issue

Definitely agree with Gwhite. Fair warning, I'm not too much farther along, but I have one other suggestion. Trigger control. If you're not sure why shots are landing in certain places, it's a definite possibility. To test, put a white sheet on the wall and point the gun at it. Doesn't matter where,...

I 100% agree with Hundert. It really doesn't matter. Get something that you feel is the pistol you want to use.

I apologize, looking back at my post it looks like I was singling you out. I was a bit frustrated when I wrote it. It wasn't aimed at you at all! :)

Re: Physical Physiology (or other names for it...?)

-TT-, it depends on the person's chosen stance. Which muscles are engaged depends on the angle of the shooter to the target (even the deltoid is divided into three different parts. If ONLY considering the lowering of the arm, it makes sense to have a completely side on stance so that only the centra...

FYI Shaky, while you're right, it's standard practice in all newspaper and law enforcement to avoid reporting the details surrounding suicides and accidental deaths. That's to prevent imitators from getting ideas.

Re: Physical Physiology (or other names for it...?)

You don't need to know WHY, because why has nothing to do with shooting, so go over to medical forums for the whys No can do, sorry. You're stuck with me. I'm too squeamish for real medicine. I plan to grab that book for my birthday or something, by the way. I'm certainly not going to disagree with...

As usual, I really appreciate everyone's engagement. This forum is great for finding information. You guys have no idea how much easier you have made my journey so far since I joined Target Talk. Thank you.

Now back to shooting so that I can improve areas that need improving!

Re: Physical Physiology (or other names for it...?)

there isn't probably an answer, they probably measured how much your muscles shake and saw that they shake less when you lower into the target from above... This reasoning is what I'm trying to avoid. I think a video will explain better than words. Please watch this before reading the rest of my po...

Physical Physiology (or other names for it...?)

Okay I don't know precisely what I'm asking for, which is why I'm asking you folks for help. It's obvious to me that the way the human body interacts with the pistol is absolutely critical to success as a shooter. I've spent a lot of time studying the pistol and how it works. I have next to no time ...

GWhite, how often do you recommend cleaning the barrel? I am aware that there is significant varience on cleaning airguns, but I wanted to hear what you did with your team.

Just my .02: I do agree 100% about the work, but with the caveat that the tool should fit you in the first place.

Okay, first fair warning: I'm talking out of my ass while reading a rulebook, but I want to help and I think this is what you need. As you may have noticed, I have not actually attended a competition, but in my defense I can do research fairly well (and quickly). http://www.issf-sports.org/documents...

Re: Lighting Requirements

I don't know specifics about lighting requirements (probably varies by range), but you may want to try some of the LED lights you can pick up from lowes or home depot. Cheap, no batteries, and sticks to the wall without any cords. You activate them by pressing on them like a car light.

Re: Hill Pump bleeder screw

Somewhat related newbie question: I am considering upgrading from my Izzie 46 to a PCP....can I get by with just a Hill pump, or should I really be budgeting a SCUBA tank and fittings? That depends on your age, body frame, and fitness. I'm not too fit, 30, and 6'4''. The Hill pump gets me a bit out...

Very tempting. It's only a four hour drive to Anniston (and I will most definitely be shooting if I go to that). But I ain't there just yet. In the meantime, does anyone have videos or know where to find some?

And thank you hundert, I'll take a look.

Videos of AP60 match

The ISSF puts out great videos of the finals, but are there any videos of the actual ISSF 60-shot matches that occur before finals? I'm curious because I'd like to see what it looks and sounds like, if possible.
