and a great time to do the follow through and analyse the shot AS IT LOOKED & FELT (not as it appears through a scope or monitor)?
Regarding 8.6.1.2 and 8.6.1.3, they seem to conflict because there is no way that any pistol held at 45 degrees or less is pointed at the backstop.
8.6.1.2 is a 'general' rule for all ISSF pistol regarding the direction of the pistol; 8.6.1.3 then goes on to cover the exceptions nee...

Re: stop watch

In a slow-fire series I doubt any 'criticality'; in the faster stages there is not time to waste checking a timer? 150 second series? Just as important, what about the 1 minute load period? 150 seconds series - no sweat to an old rapid fire shooter, never seem to get anywhere near being overtime. B...

I am somewhat surprised that nobody has questioned that this premise requires a stopwatch.

Cutting the wires on electronic stopwatches can mess up the electronics - I've lost a couple of stopwatches through doing so. I believe the beeper acts as a resistor as well and that throws out the system (although I'm no electrician). If you can bend the beeper or disable it with out cutting the l...

how about a count-down timer, or two for the 25m shooters?

most electronic stopwatches and timers can be easily de-beeped - open the case, locate the beeper, cut one wire.

Strangely enough, reasonably alert range staff will pick up 'illegal' coaching fairly quickly, whatever form it takes. Could it be that one coach consistently was heard to cough just before a rifle shooter fired a shot? The problem went away when one of the Range Officers got a tickle in the throat ...

Ah! Now you are getting to personal preferences, but I would suggest a light beige works best, and offends nobody.

At 576 pages there is already enough in the rule book without adding too much more. If the ISSF starts to cover every point the pedants bring up it will soon double in size and no longer fit in my jacket pocket... A degree of common sense is needed; if a rule 'works' for the vast majority of shooter...

Jack, while 6.3.15.4 gives some indications, but there can be an enormous difference between a glare-ridden range and a black hole of Calcutta, which both can comply with the rule. Best (I have an opinion based on shooting on, judging at, setting up, etc. various 10m ranges around the world) is when...

Mike, given all the variables mentioned (and a few you have not thought of yet) the practical accuracy of the Sius Ascor targets is still way better than the printing on paper targets. The SA sysytem detects the shot hitting the target material (not the oft quoted pressure wave from the bullets pass...

While this at first appeared to be a local problem; on reflection it must apply all over for ISSF pistol and rifle shooters using airguns without a dry-fire maechanism; so here is the gist of the reply sent to Alex... In relation to your suggestion for a Local Rule (for lower level competitions with...

Re: Sius Ascor

So, how does the Sius Ascor system work? I heard that it uses microphones to triangulate the position of the bullet/pellet and then compares the coordinates to those of a virtual "target" to give a shot value. If that is true, then there is lots of room for error. At least with this Czech...

I am looking for the proper RO voice commands for these courses of fire when fired on electronic targets: Rapid Fire Pistol Standard Pistol Center Fire Pistol. TIA Stan Page down http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/nrc_pa/resources.htm to the guides for RO links. These are to the 2005 rules. RO command...

RFP record is 589 Early days yet and this undoubtedly will go up as more shooters develop into the 'new' pistol requirements. 1/ a shooter who cannot get the MQS of 573 some time in the next few years is not going to set the 2008 Olympics on fire. 2/ Getting a Quota place is much harder than getting...

So I was curious as to what and how it is done. ...Another match next month. I think its best to stick with my coach's plan, a...
