Re: Minimum shots/day?

Videos don't cover the finer points in instruction. A good coach is a better investment. Nothing beats a coach yelling at you that you are f**ing up and then showing you how it is done!! 2 videos playlists are below for your reference. Have fun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8HQhBPJjU8&list=PL...

Autogenic training

There is a lot of material available on autogenic training, but its focused on the autogenic training process itself e.g. - how to go through the steps of autogenic training, monthly/weekly plans etc. I haven't seen anything that would shed light on how it can be used to improve pistol shooting!! Th...

Adding weight on Steyr LP50C

hi, I am working with a physio for strengthening my holds and avoiding the dreaded twitch shots. He has recommended to add weight to my pistol - Steyr LP50 compact....0.5kg, then 1kg - basically slow progressive fashion over weeks. This is only for holding and not for shooting I am thinking of hangi...

Re: Summary of The Psyche of the Shot (Sport Psychology)

Hi Ramon - I quickly looked at it, the verbiage is very similar to the book - its an actual summary and not a book review. Please do check for copyright issues - better to stay out of trouble. Just my 2 cents

Arc of movement in 10 circle

Any idea how long it takes to get the minimum arc of movement in the 10 circle? Do we need to do any specific holding exercises for it? I generally perform 20-25 second holds for 30-40times as part of holding exercises. My current arc of movement is in the 8-9 circle, depending on the day. Pls do sh...

Re: Steyr LP50 servicing

Does the pistol have any problems that need to be serviced or you’re just worried about the rust? Are you storing the pistol in a dry environment along with a silica gel desiccant pack? There are no problems with the pistol, I am just worried about the rust and if it will cause bigger issues later....

Steyr LP50 servicing

Hi All - I have a Steyr LP50C which I bought about 18 months go. I had recently replaced the grip and noticed some rust on the inside. Do you normally service the pistol yourself or you take it to a servicing center? I am based in Pune, India. Please do advise.

Re: Resistance band exercises or dumbells

Most senior shooters I know recommend theraband/resistance bands over traditional weights though none could tell me why. Tom Brady in his TB12 method recommends resistance bands over weights - his argument is resistance bands make the muscles long and flexible (pliability) while allowing a big fluid...

Might reduce the glare when outdoors and paper target is used for 25m. I am guessing, no experience with shades though

Tinted glasses for pistol shooting

I participate in 10m and 25m ISSF pistol shooting events. Finally found an optician who understands shooting needs and took an appointment for tomorrow. He mentioned that they provide tinted glasses only in amber color. I wonder if the same tinted glasses can be used for both outdoor as well as indo...

Agreed :-(. I have not been training daily, that can also lead to the delay in elimination of twitches.

Re: Twitch Shot in 10 Meter Air Pistol

I have a similar issue, my wrist twitch goes towards 2oclock...putting the shot anywhere between 6 to 2 :-(. My twitches are very less on the days when I run/jog earlier in the day. If I don't do any exercise, there are a lot of twitches. Guess it has something to do with muscle tremor when the body...

Re: Impact of holding exercises in the match

Need to continue my training even if things don't turn around quickly. As Yoda said "“If you end your training now — if you choose the quick and easy path as Vader did — you will become an agent of evil.” Desperately need a solution as I have a series of matches lined up from next month. That’s...

Re: Impact of holding exercises in the match

this makes sense. Let me try warming the muscles by stretching and try for few sessions. Will post the results. From everything I have run across, activities that could tire your muscles are counterproductive right before a match. It is recommended that any strength training be discontinued several ...
