Re: Walther Match Rifles

The walther lg stocks have progressed generationally from wood (universal) to alutec, then carbontec, to anatomic. It seems that the carbontec stock never really displaced the alutec, but the anatomic seems to be making good progress in doing so. So there really is no difference in features? Same a...

Walther Match Rifles

Can anyone explain why the anatomic expert is asking around 10% more than the alutec expert? Wouldn't it seem that the alutec expert would charge a higher price if all the features are the same. Is the wood laminate the reason for the price bump? Or are there feature differences between the guns? ht...

Dr. Doctor, On behalf of the club let me offer our apologies as you have not gotten a reply. I believe that email you sent your original inquiry to is not being used at the moment. A better email to use would be the one contacting our Junior Club. Please check out JuniorShooters.com. This is the si...

Re: Does anyone shoot in Southern California?

Hey all.. I have been having a headache over trying to find places to help me get started with olympic air rifle. I was wondering if anyone has any information on places that I can go to shoot. I would love to find a coach in my area that can help me... As I am completely new to the sport. I've tri...

Re: SCATT Training Systems

I believe that the above case is true for the LGR. I can only reset the trigger with a full cocking of the rifle. Don't know exactly, since the rifle is coming in this week.

I certainly hope that I can use it with the SCATT system!

Thanks!

Re: SCATT Training Systems

Lots of great information in this thread: http://targettalk.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=50054 I have mounted my scatt in front of a bullet trap in my basement and live fire air pistol and rifle all the time (as long as you are confident in your ability to not hit the scatt device). So using it with...

SCATT Training Systems

Link to SCATT Trainer In Question Hey all, I am wondering if anyone has any experience using a training system such as this one. I understand that it operates via dry-firing your rifle--and not actually shooting pellets. It is meant for training and is highly accurate. It can also reduce the amount...

General Maintenance, Wood Maintenance, and General Operation

Hey all, I recently purchased my first air rifle. I've been poking around--and I've recently passed up a good deal on an Anschutz 8001 Club in order to get my hands on the right SSP. I opted for SSP because its a lower pricepoint to enter the sport at. In addition, I do not have a place to readily f...

How to know which grip size to get?

Hey all, Once again, with a dumb question. Anschutz offers different grip sizes on their PCP precision rifles. The 8002 has options of small, medium, or large. Is there any way of knowing which one is good for me? I'm 6'2" and have big hands--but normal for someone who is 6'2". I'm trying ...

Unique opportunity to get a PCP... Is this a good buy?

Hey all, I posted quite a while ago about breaking into the sport... Then I got caught up in some other stuff. Interestingly, I came across the opportunity to buy an Anschütz 8001 Club at a cheap price. Its being offered to me at 799$. Should I go for it? Its exactly this model: http://www.champchoi...

Re: Will my age be a problem?

The CMP has Daisy SSP 753's for around $125 shipped to your house. They may be a little rough looking, and the trigger is kind of crappy, but can be smithed. They have Walther Lothar barrels which are very accurate. Lots of folks at our club (50 and older) start out with them and upgrade after they...

H! The daisy is really easy to work on. Try these links: http://www.targettalk.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=46988 and http://www.network54.com/Forum/79537/thread/1263743133/Daisy+Avanti+853+Trigger+mod Just watch out for the tiny ball bearing and spring contained in the safety during disassembly--th...

Daisy 753 Trigger Mod

Hello all, I've read up on some forum posts that give written guides on how to modify a Daisy 853/753 stock trigger to a lower pull of 2 lbs. The stock pull is floating around 5 lbs. Does anyone know if a video of this process exists? Also, handy tips for anyone looking to pick up a Daisy 753/853. V...

Re: Will my age be a problem?

Regarding the perspective part-I shoot on average one day/week most of the year. I would love to improve my average much faster, but do not have the time to shoot much more than this. College and High School shooters get a lot more practice in per week that I do. So, my level of competition is stil...

This may be a dumb question... But here it goes. In order to compete in 10m precision air rifle, do you need to shoot all three positions? What if I only want to do standing? Is it possible to only compete in standing?

Thanks!

Re: Will my age be a problem?

Dr Doctor, I got started in 10m air rifle in my 30s. If you want to play, you have to pay. There is no substitute for a decent rifle and well fitted jacket. If you want a good SSP, you are looking at something like a FWB 600 series or Anschutz SuperAir 2002. But for the prices those generally go fo...

Re: Will my age be a problem?

Yep, you're going to get beat by 12-year-olds. And you're going to get beat by people in their seventies. And you're going to get beat by girls, both teenage and octogenarian. And by boys of all age groups. And all of that is true no matter YOUR age! But the truly awesome thing about shooting, thou...
