Re: Kimber 82G Good or Bad?

Bought 2 82G's from the CMP about 5-6years ago and have to say that they were well worth the $$$ paid. One I left stock so I could shoot 50yd bullseye matches with and the other one had the buttstock hollowed out and 4" cut from the barrel so that I could make weight for NRA silhouette matches,...

Where do you store your targets? If you keep them in a damp basement, they will be more prone to tear from lower velocity pellets. We have the same problem at our club, shooting in a basement over the winter. You may find that keeping them dryer, solves the problem.

Real Duelling - YES! Make it the same as fencing with the first laser strike in a target area on the opponent's laser-sensitive vest, etc to electronically record a "hit". Much better spectator sport - but I disagree with it on so many levels. I don't know why I'm writing this. The Devil ...

laser=no recoil I think they need to have big calibers for shooting so that it will generate the maximum recoil. As previous poster wrote, we are one step closer to have modern pentathlon being played on a Nintendo Wii. Got that right. Laser's- no concerns about windage, bullet drop, ammo consistan...

Agreed, not military grade. Still, don't give them any idea; soon the fencing will be done with light sabers!

Yep, Starline and WW are both good choices. With pistol bullseye, I believe the biggest benefit of having consistent brass is to make it easier to collect yours afterwards(if you don't use a catcher). 45 brass seems to last forever with bullseye level loads. Unless you're already shooting "high...

FWB 65 parts source

Just un-boxed my FWB 65 to get ready for our indoor, winter airgun league shoots and noticed that the piston damper seems to be deteriorating. Looks like it's time for a complete teardown and rebuild.

Where's a good source to go to for parts? My searches aren't too successful so far.

TIA

"What trap do you guys recommend (I've got a massive .22RF trap that weighs like 30 lbs, but I'd prefer to use something smaller and lighter if I'm going to hang it on my wall" Here's a solution that worked well for me. Take a trip to your local Home Depot or Lowes store and pick up the fo...

F-1 chrony will work fine for this; as well as rimfire and centerfire rounds.

ps: If you use indoors, as I do with airguns, you will likely have to add some additional lighting above the translucent barriers to get good readings.

Try this link for some basic info. on wind drift. As winds are seldom constant or kind enough to only come from 90degrees left or right, experience is still the best. Regardless, it's interesting reading.

Barry, before you look at the link and have a heart attack, realize that we got this 82G for $250 I think when CMP sold the turned in JROTC smallbore rifles. I kick myself for not purchasing more of these. This rifle has shot 0.86" at 100yds (in a windless tunnel) with STD+ ammo. When the girl...

While I love the Kimber 82G's .... they are more like 12-13lbs with sights. I had to hack a lot of the stock and take off the sight mount hardware just to get one down to 10lb-2oz for silhouette. I take it that your 12-13lb weight included a scope? Mine comes in at around 10.8lbs. with the Kimber a...

Actually, your initial thought might be the best of all to start with. If you can qualify for the purchase, get a rusty 82Kimber from the CMP for $423.00 and never look back. Drawbacks would be that it's a heavy (10lb'ish) gun with not many stock adjustments other than pull length, but it has a pret...
