I think you are shooting AR…you may want to look into comparing “black” diameters of various other targets…and just use those targets…and if scoring…make yourself a scoring template out of a clear film with the appropriate scaled diameter scoring rings. You can judge the center of the hole vs scorin...

Sub-6:00 allows greater aiming precision due to being able to see the light gap and level of front and rear sights. Center hold makes it difficult to see blade spacing and top of blade levels.

I’ve done the light switching for home range teaming. It works perfectly fine for training. I just had target illumination turn on/off. It’s obvious to the user when the shot is late,
