Re: Rapid Fire Pistol
... The answer is to allow zero malfunctions! ... To be honest, I'm surprised that the ISSF hasn't already moved in this direction. In most sport, when you equipment fails, that's just bad luck (or bad preparation). Now convince the ammunition manufacturers. I know there are probably thousands of s...

Re: thoughts on 10 year cylinder age limit rule
my experience with an 'incident' was not a burst, but a 200/220bar cylinder being filled from a 300 (+?) bar supply. The cylinder FIRMLY embedded itself in a concrete black wall. (Otherwise) Normally sane people will use a spacer to screw a 200baqr cylinder onto a 300bar source....

Re: 10m target background colour
This makes me think of the new rule on pistol sights, which also need to be "non-reflective". What does this mean? I have received an answer from the ISSF Technical Director regarding the meaning, and more importantly the spirit, of the new rule regarding colour. Normal colours are allowe...

Having been involved in the design of a couple of major ranges, apparently "a non-reflecting, light even neutral color" means something different to architects.David Levene wrote:... a non-reflecting, light even neutral color..."

Re: Scoring targets
Years ago, at a team competition, I watched the scorer switch between two different gauges as he marked a stack of cards. What did the Jury member that you told do about this? There was a complaint about me changing gauges when scoring a match last year. I amazed myself by not laughing as I explain...

As Jury Chairman I checked the plug gauges to be used at an international competition - one set of plug gauges for 300M rifle were lovely and shiny, but well under size.

Re: Scoring targets
...Humans all score higher than a machine will Might be related to the accuracy of the printing of the paper target. EST will give the true value of the shot, irrespective of the diameter of a printed ring. Add in variations in the humidity (target paper 'grows' with increase in humidity) and paper...

...The IOC want to limit the Summer Olympics to 310 events. Rio had 306 and Tokyo has 5 additional sports... But the IOC is not all that serious about which sports. Numerous 'sports' could be just as easily conducted as part of the winter Olympics (but they would not have the kudos that the summer ...

Re: Where is the 10m Air rifle distance measured from?
In my basement I have shooting bench. I have long wondered how far from the target face should my rifle be. To the end of the bbl/bloop tube (i.e. Anschutz SuperAir)? To the crown on the rifled bbl? The rifled bbl. being about 15" long. At my feet? At the front edge of the shooting bench? At t...

Re: Lighting Requirements
...Sydney is about the best range I have shot on for Air Pistol lighting conditions... But it's not perfect. The !@#$% gooseneck target lights give an uneven distribution of light; brighter at the top than at the bottom of the target. The architect and the contractors had an interesting interpretat...

Re: Possible Pistol glove?
There are some gloves designed for shooting free pistol in the cold that (at least at one time) were given the OK. They were made by Arnie Vitarbo's wife. They were a polar fleece sack that went over the hand & pistol, with a knit cuff. I believe Arnie got an official ruling on them, but I have...

Open the bolt and insert the safety flag until it shows on both sides of the barrel. Leave the gun on the table pointing forwards. Raise your arm and wait for the referee to come to you. Don´t disturb the other shooters. Tell him or her that you need to change cylinders. Do as him or her instructs....

I don't disagree with your logic, but putting together a portable shooting range that will be usable with the upcoming ISSF world cups and Olympic games is a daunting bureaucratic challenge. Everybody has their own building code and cultural requirements concerning construction. I'm not even going ...

I would like to find a clarification by ISSF about that notch on the trigger. There is this guide: http://www.britishpistolclub.org/ISSF/Trng_Manual_Pistol_for_rangeofficers_judges.pdf Clause 3.5. """" It is the shooters responsibility to present a pistol that is capable of bein...

2. Is it really in full conformance with the ISSF rules? What if it astonishes the officials? What if the weight will just slip off the trigger during the trigger weight control? Can I help that knife-edge find its position by making a small curved slot (this is will be organized as a separate ques...
