Re: MG4 double fire

Interesting, indeed. Both my MG2 and MG4 have a dryfire capability with the safety on. The hammer only falls very little and is well away from the firing pin instead of going a full stoke to the firing pin. Even so, my MG4 firing pin broke. The MG4 firing pin is tapered. So is the AW93 which suppose...

Re: 32 ACP - "Flash in the Pan"?

In that you are in Europe, you are probably better able to determine the situation. A simple phone call could verify what I wrote. If someone answers, then perhaps it is business as usual at MatchGuns or they found a financial backer. If not, . . . Krale recently informed me that they no longer deal...

Re: 32 ACP - "Flash in the Pan"?

Since my last, I recently replaced the MG4 firing pin. I was ready to pick up where I left off, however, dark clouds have appeared on the horizon. MatchGuns may be a thing of the past. Seems that the factory has closed hoping that someone will suddenly appear with a lot of cash to start it up again....

Re: 32 ACP - "Flash in the Pan"?

Firing pin broke on the MG4 ACP so I am dead in the water until I get a new one. Hopefully, that will be soon.

In the meantime, will be playing with the Walther GSP 32 S&W long instead.

Re: 32 ACP - "Flash in the Pan"?

Equipment as listed above with following exceptions were tested today - 1.6 N310 and BE and 1.8 BE with Brazos & T&B 78 RN (.312) & XTP 85. The 78 RN were more accurate than the XTP. Tried both taper and roll crimps to see if it helped with feeding. Didn’t seem to matter. No issues with ...

Re: 32 ACP - "Flash in the Pan"?

Another session today. Temp was 89 degrees, sunny, no wind. Tested Brazos 78 round nose (.312 and .314) and T&B 78 Round nose (.312) with 1.6 of N310. All continued to work well as stated before. Interesting in that the Brazos bullets sometimes varied as much as 1.5 grains more or less while the...

Re: 32 ACP - "Flash in the Pan"?

Conducted another testing session today. Same equipment as previously listed. Ransom Rest insert modified slightly to provide more room for the slide. All shots were loaded and fired one at a time rather than inserting a magazine of 5 rounds. Loads tested today were Brazos 78RN .312, TB 78RN .312, a...

Re: 32 ACP - "Flash in the Pan"?

Below are the results of 32 ACP load tests on Monday, April 7th. Caveats/issues: • Gun is a MatchGuns MG4 32 S&WL modified with a Shilen .311 barrel and different extractor to grasp the smaller 32 ACP rim. Modifications built by Eulette Precision. • An old Hoppe’s Pistol Rest was used as a rest....

Re: 32 ACP - "Flash in the Pan"?

I shot an 1800 match on Saturday, scored a guy shooting Pardin's in both 22 and center fire. His score only dropped 3 points between 22 and CF. He finished 3rd on 22, but is CF the top 2 guys dropped 17 and 18 points with there 45acp guns. So he want from 3rd to 1st. If you have greater aspirations...

Re: 32 ACP - "Flash in the Pan"?

You raise excellent and very valid points. The best argument for the type of pistol for bullseye competition has become, and will likely remain, the 1911 frame. With a 1911 22 conversion for the Rimfire aggregate and the .45 for both the centerfire and 45 aggregates, the competitor has essentially t...

Re: 32 ACP - "Flash in the Pan"?

It would be great IF Nelson figures it all out and ultimately produces a 1911 32 ACP conversion. It would require a different magazine like some of those for the other 1911 variations such as the 9mm/38 Super. Don't know about the 38 Special version. Never had or seen one. Have read that there were ...

Re: IZH-35M recoil spring

IF the AW93 spring would work, it would be the earlier model spring - before serial number 20000. I don't think the later model spring (after serial number 20000) comes separately but is rather fixed to the rod. Best to check with Pilkguns to see if they have them and if the early model spring will...

Re: 32 ACP - "Flash in the Pan"?

I suppose if there was a chart that listed felt recoil of all calibers in all pistols that included all possible variations (grip types, compensators, loads, competitor body mass, etc.), then 38 Super would probably be listed as having more felt recoil than the 32 ACP. How much more? Certainly not s...

Re: 32 ACP - "Flash in the Pan"?

"What I'd like to see is someone build a .32acp blowback conversion for a 1911...sort of like a Nelson or Marvel conversion. The magazines could be based on Nighthawk Custom's .30 super carry mags (hopefully someone starts copying them, since Nighthawk wants a ton of money for them)." Perh...

Re: 32 ACP - "Flash in the Pan"?

Bad day at the range. Ransom Rest insert caused problems with feeding and pistol kept doubling. Everything worked great last week with the same ammo. ??? Chrono shot craps. Ordered a new one and will go with the old Hoppe's pistol rest (model 3000?). Will try again Saturday.

Re: 32 ACP - "Flash in the Pan"?

Now have a MatchGuns MG-4 insert for my Ransom Rest. The weather this week looks great. Starting tomorrow, I will begin testing. The MG-4, initially a 32 S&W L, has an ACP conversion system (Shilen 0.311 barrel and different extractor) designed and built by Jon Eulette. I have several loads that...

Thanks for the clarification of your earlier post with specifics. Obviously, the T&B 64 SWC is working well for you. Good luck with the conversion.

Re: 32 ACP - "Flash in the Pan"?

I'm still using mine. It's a SWLWC frame with an ACP top end. I bought it that way, used, from the original owner. It's biggest problem is the magazine falling out in the middle of a string (seriously!). I need to get a new Rink grip for it, then I'll be using it again. Having thought about these r...
