Thanks for all the info guys. Looks like it's seals. The failure occurs at the same rate no matter what I do. I've oiled every spot possible with crosman oil and tried every loading combo/ technique possible. Sorry I didn't intend to start a oil thread which seems almost religious.

I recently purchased a like new IZH-46 that is roughly 10 years old. It shoots strong but strangely not every time. Occasionally it simply doesn't. Pull the trigger and nothing but a click? Starting from scatch

So I saw a random ad in craigslist for a IZH-46. The price was good and 2 hours later it's mine. But I don't know anything about competitive pistol shooting. I never even shot a pistol one handed before. So no bad habits ;)
What advise do you have for someone starting from nothing?
