Re: How long will pellets keep?
Joe, I have some H&N Match pellets I bought in 1978, and some field pellets (Lazapell) I bought in 2004. These tins have just the usual tape around the lid. I opened one tin of each to do some testing, and the pellets were in perfect condition. So, un-opened, it seems that pellets will last at l...

Re: Anschutz insert in a MEC front tunnel
Modena,
I use Centra Score 18mm tunnels, and the pink plastic Anschutz elements fit them perfectly.
http://www.intershoot.co.uk/acatalog/Ce ... l-396.html
I can't see why the Anschutz elements wouldn't fit the MEC tunnels.
Have fun :)
Best regards
Russ

Re: Speed of Izh vs. Steyr
Hello to All, My IZH-46M does ca. 465 fps. with JSB Match Green (7.33 gr.), and cuts clean holes with Kruger targets. (For comparison my FWB 65 also does ca. 465 fps, and my Diana 10 does ca. 433 fps with the JSB Match 7.33 gr. - the Diana cuts clean holes in the Kruger targets). +1 on Rovers commen...

Re: Are tins the most practical way of storing air gun pelle
KifSif, I store my un-opened tins of pellets in a large 'KlipLok' tub - these have hermetic seals. I put some active silica gel packets and a sheet of VPI paper into the tub, then seal. When I open a tin, I place a square of VPI paper over the top of the pellets, then a piece of foam from a JSB pell...

Re: Grease me up, Election's coming
Rover, Heavy weight (SAE 30) motorcycle fork oil (I use Silkolene) has worked really well for me in SSP rifles & pistols. Fork oil is seal friendly, and has plenty of anti-wear & extreme pressure additives. (The suggestion to use fork oil was kindly given to me by Mr. McMurray of 'MAC1 Airgu...

Re: Definition of a "firearm"
SlartyBartFast, In the UK : 2.3 Firearm’ means a lethal barrelled weapon of any description from which any shot, bullet or other missile can be discharged. This includes any prohibited weapon, whether it is such a lethal weapon or not, any component part (see Chapter 13) of such a lethal or prohibit...

Re: How to clean out your target rifle?
freezingpenguin, I used to 'clean' the barrels of my small-bore rifles (1955 BSA 12/15 & Izhmash Strela 3) every time I shot them with 3/4" cotton patches (Proshot) on a Dewey spike jag, moistened with BreakFree CLP. Two (2) patches and the job was called a good one. Before shooting, two (2...

Re: Magnetospeed V3
James, As an aside : Our Club had a shoot yesterday, and one of the members had brought along his 'Magnetospeed' chronoscope. I was very impressed with it - very simple to set up and easy to use :) I read in the instructions, that for air rifles, you had to set the bore to chrono' sensor distance to...

Re: IZH-46M Still in production?
Wayne,
York Guns service was excellent - as was the price for the valve seal :)
I am now most heartened that one of my favourite pistols will continue to shoot well into the future.
Many thanks again :)
Have fun & a good weekend :)
Best regards
Russ

Re: IZH-46M Still in production?
Wayne,
Many thanks :) York Guns have come through - they have the valve seal ('lock') :)
Oddly, 'Sportsman Gun Centre', who are now the 'official' importer, do not keep spares for the MP-46M !
Have fun :)

Re: Recommended pistol for a novice
Hello to All, In the UK, with very few exceptions, there is no such thing as 'cheap' - the best we can do is 'less expensive'. I am very pleased with my Baikal MP-46M (which incidentally is 'cheap' here !), but am very concerned about the lack of 'consumable' spares such as seals - they are not avai...

Re: IZH-46M Still in production?
Hello to All, While we can buy the MP-46M in the UK for a very good price, we cannot, for love or money get any of the seals. The enclosed seal pack that comes with the pistol does not contain the valve seal. The importers cannot help either. Attempts to buy seals from the USA have proved fruitless ...

Re: izh cocking
CharlieK, I didn't like the amount of force needed to open the breach when cocking my MP-46M in the 'normal' way, so I now do the below : 1) Slide the breach release forward to release breach. 2) Open pump lever fully, then lift breach fully up (cocks trigger and closes valve). 3) Close pump lever, ...

Re: cleaning pellets
Owl, The only reason I use cleaning pellets (VFG) is as an easy way to apply preservative oil/grease to the barrel before I store my air pistols/rifles. (I live in an old, cold and leaky Victorian house, where things rust very quickly if you give them a chance !). In addition, I do use a VFG Ppcket-...

CJ, They will take modern iris'. I have a Gehmann 510 on my Walther LG55 (sight exactly as yours). The sights are good - they are a bit unusual as they have a coarse adjustment (the screws on the face plate - two each for up/down), and then the fine click adjustments. Have fun :) Best regards Russ

Re: Where to buy 10m AP targets?
Chris, I bought my ISSF 10m AP pistol targets direct from Krueger in Germany. It was a very easy process. The cost, including postage for 1000 10m AP targets, and 1000 plain 'targets' was 75.81 Euro, which works out at ca. 3p each. (the 10m AP targets were 24.87 Euro/1000, the plain targets were 4.9...
