Re: Case Neck Tension with Lead Wadcutters
In my experience, the crimp is more important than neck tension. In many years shooting .38 WC in PPC, I use a substantial roll crimp to retard the primer from moving the bullet before the powder has ignited. This is exasperated in small cases. To get a uniform roll crimp, case length uniformity is ...

I remember reading somewhere, that removing the jacket opens groups up by approx. one scoring ring. So a nine would by an eight and so on.

My bad, on first inspection of the photo, I saw the marks on the firing pin stop and thought thats what you were talking about. When I revisited the photo, I saw the marks you are referring to, It is not normal.

Re: Custom titanium firing pins?
There is a misconception about titanium alloys. They are much softer than steel alloy, they have a much lower tensile strength. Steel alloy coated with titanium nitride has a hard wear resistant surface but its strength comes from the steel body, it is not titanium. Titanium is used where a light we...

Cateracts and seeing the target
Visual phenomenon observations for shooters with incipient to mild cataracts. I have “mild” cataracts, too soon to operate. The last six months have been getting more difficult to see the center of the field of view. The bullseye is being obliterated by what I can only describe as a little wad of st...

Re: What is follow through?
Follow thru and trigger control are two sides of the same coin, you can't have one without the other. Example, when dry firing, when trigger control and follow thru are perfect their is no movement of the front sight.

Cutting target backers
I made cutters out of scrap wood to cut cardboard backers for Gehmann pistol and rifle targets. The distance between the utility blade and the foot is 170mm and 100mm respectively. They work great, and get rid of Amazon boxes. Just throw it in a vise and start cutting. Be very careful , there is an ...

Re: AP Raise
Another thing to consider, is the target lighting sufficient? If the target is too dark the sights can be lost passing thru. ISSF rules require 1500 lux minimum, greater than 1800 preferred.

Re: AP Raise
For decades, I never raised above line of sight. Recently I discovered a tangible benefit for me. If I raise enough above the target to be on a plain back- round (not seeing the bullseye), I can lock my visual focus on the sights and keep that focus for the duration of the shot. I also agree that it...

I have been shooting a FWB P8X for two years. Great pistol , excellent adjustability. I sold my Steyr LP10 and seldom shoot my Morini. All of the top tier pistols are competitive, it's like buying shoes, it has to feel right to you.

Re: Steyr Popularity in Air Pistol
I bought my Feinwerkbau P8X nearly 12,000 pellets and a year ago. It impressed me as a very well thought out design, adjustments for everything and an excellent trigger. I have since sold my LP10, the P8X trigger is superior IMHO. I have kept my 162EI as my understudy for free pistol. I would not di...
