Re: popular brands

I have not seen the odd looking and even more odd functioning Pardini at any major international competition. ... The pardini free pistol? Not for me, no. I'm trying to collect information on free pistols as the first step toward buying one. This comment caught my eye. Can someone please elaborate ...

Perhaps Nicole can lead the charge by campaigning to allow men into the HIGHLY lucrative womens tennis and golf circuits... I'm sure she will get a lot of support from the women in this area. If I actually played either tennis or golf and if men didn't have a physical advantage in these sports unli...

Why are shooting events still sexist?

Okay, it goes without saying that whatever the status of women in the West, it's probably less elsewhere. So I can sort of comprehend (I refuse to say I understand) why the Olympic events are sexist, e.g., different rules for men than women in AP, no center fire or free pistol events at all for wome...

Re: CCI ammo in pardini

Can't agree that CCI ammo doesn't work - fits in mine, groups under 25mm @25m, havent had a malfunction yet and is economical to boot! Perhaps I should have been more specific. My experience was with CCI blue label; I've heard that CCI green does work for some people (though I've never tried it mys...

I left Massachusetts in 2002 for the great free state of Washington, but when I still lived there, I used to shoot AP matches at the Woburn Sportsmen's Association. They had a really nice range and they were very active in AP. According to their webpage at http://members.aol.com/wsa1933/pistol.htm ,...

Using iron sights

I was surprised no one else seemed to interpret it this way but I thought the question asked what the sight picture ought to look like. Generally speaking, there are two strategies, 6 o'clock hold and center hold. Of the two, 6 o'clock is by far the more popular, especially among precision shooters....

I'm with those who prefer the SCUBA tank. I also have hand pump, which does have the advantage that it's easier to take with you, but I think it's a lot more work than I want to put into it. As others have commented, I would not want to have to pump at a match because it'd be a while before I could ...

Hopefully, you won't be shooting toward a window. (Drywall is a lot cheaper to repair, in case you have guests like mine. :)

Buying through the mail

I've bought quite a number of guns, including both my Pardinis, my custom-built AR-15, both my Steyr airguns, my Anschutz and several others through the mail and it's worked out just fine. The market for truly fine-quality guns is really small compared to the market for 9mm Glocks, so you either rac...

If it helps to further set your mind at ease, no matter whether they 'fess up to it or not, I can't imagine there's a Pardini owner out there who hasn't put the Allen wrench into the barrel at least once. The design of the gun makes this just so easy to do! If doing that ruined the gun, you'd hear a...

If I was shooting international rules now, I suppose that might be an option. But I'm already using an Aimpoint that I really like and which I have mounted to the receiver. So I can't just change the barrel.

But I appeciate the thought. Thank you.

Air pistol at home

I'm with those who would not shoot outdoors at home, for all the reasons cited, namely, neighbors who might be upset, plus weather. I use a metal pellet trap and, just my opinion, but the pop of even an air gun plus the bang as the pellet hits the trap seems certain to attract attention. And even th...

Since you seem to be collecting opinions, I'll offer mine. It's free and worth every penny. I like the smallest dot size possible and I want it set up for POI (the X ring, if I do my part.) Personally, I favor the 30mm Aimpoints as having especially round dots and very little parallax even though th...

Pardini SP

Minor quibble regarding mounting a red-dot on the Pardini: My experience was that I could not get a decent, tight mount using ordinary rings because the grooves along the top of the Pardini just aren't deep enough. No matter how tight I tried to get it, the dot would start sliding back and forth wit...

Hammerli SP 20 vs Pardini SP

I've never owned a Hammerli but it certainly was one of the guns I considered before buying a Pardini SP. To me, it appeared that the choice was largely a matter of taste regarding grip angle and trigger. The grip on the Pardini is somewhat more vertical than on the Hammerl, meaning you don't turn y...

Pardini SP vs. SP New vs. SP1?

I've been shooting my SP for years and love the ergonomics of it. For my taste, the rolling trigger is simply wonderful and the grip also is just perfect (much better than, e.g., the Hammerlis.) But all my past experience in competition has been in NRA .22 gallery-style matches (mostly near Boston) ...

My experience with the Pardini SP

Congratulations on your new SP. I think you'll be very happy with it. It's a fantastic gun with an absolutely exceptional rolling trigger. My experience with my SP has been mostly in NRA-style .22 gallery. I have an Aimpoint 30mm red-dot mounted on mine using the modified rings Don Nygord used to se...
