If you purchase Rink, I would recommend the laminated ones. They are a few more dollars but they are inherently far stronger ... I went with the standard walnut myself. It's possible the laminated grips are stronger, but my goodness, how strong do they have to be for a free pistol? :) I don't think...

Fred, I notice you have the Rink grip also. It's a great grip, isn't it? For those not familiar with it, notice the three screws in the shelf. They let you adjust that piece that comes over the back of your hand in or out and to rotate it in each of those directions to exactly fit both the thickness...

I have a LOT more than 1500 rounds through my AR's Kreiger SS barrel. It's at least twice that so far. And thanks to the JB, it once again has the same sub-1/2 MOA group it started with. Re: the FP, I appreciate the point that it's not quite the same situation, so I suppose it's possible you could b...

Okay, a quick follow-up, then I'll give it some more thought to see what I might add. I've been shooting the Pardini K22 for about a year now, at least once/week in an informal Monday night FP match (so informal, that you score your own targets, but only if you want to) and then about once/month in ...

D.C. Circuit Court Affirms Parker Ruling

From the NRA-ILA website : On Tuesday, the full U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. circuit, declined to review the decision in Parker v. District of Columbia -- the case in March that upheld the Second Amendment as an individual right and struck down Washington, D.C.’s handgun ban. The decision not ...

Well, you should have. It doesn't seem like it should have been that big a bother and you might have gotten the O-ring you needed. Apparently, you don't need it that bad.

Is it possible you could live in NYC but store your guns outside the city, near or at the range where you expect to do most of your shooting?

Hard to imagine why it'd be a problem in a bolt action. The concern with HV ammo is about beating up a semi-auto because it has a moving slide.

Maybe because ISSF rule 6.3.15.3 says 10m ranges must be equiped with electric-mechanical target carriers or changers, oe electronic scoring targets. I apologize for being a little slow to follow up, but I just finally looked at this and indeed, I think this is precisely the reason scopes are not a...

Astounding, but to take this to rediculous lengths -- would not a bullet going very slowly (with very low drag) not be the least affected by wind. I tend to think this is not the case. Undoubtedly, it's not. As the article alludes, there's a sharp rise in turbulence near the speed of sound. Outside...

Re: Math

Am I correct you are doing something in the field of mechanical engineering? Hi, Albert. By training (35 years ago at Stanford :) I'm an electrical engineer. I've spent most of my career designing system software, meaning the internals of complex systems. For a long time, I was an entrepreneur, sel...

Re: 6.3.15.3 10 m ranges must be equipped with electric-mech

We don't know whether the "clothesline style" target system was electric-mechanical or "human-powered", Nicole didn't specify. : At The British Pistol Club we obviously have severe problems fully complying with ISSF rules. We have found however that it is easier to base our own ...

Re: reduced shooting distance and scaled down targets

Btw, Albert's formula was "almost" correct. It wasn't readable mostly only because he omitted the "code" tags around it to prevent reformatting. Here's how I believe he intended it to display: Na RDr = ---- x (RDn + DKn) - DKg Ra RDr = reduced ring diameter RDn = normal ring diam...

The way it works is that you have to scale the distance between the center of the black and the center of a shot that would just touch any given ring. Take the example of scaling the 10-ring from a B-35 to a B-19: The diameter of the 10-ring on the B-35 is 0.78 in, which means the radius from the ce...

Sorry, Paul, you're wrong, and you don't need to take my word for it. All you need do is compare, e.g., a B-19, used for FP at 50 yards, with a B-35, used for FP at 25 yards. Here are sizes of the rings: B-19 10 ring ... 1.78 in 9 ring ... 3.58 in 8 ring ... 5.38 in 7 ring ... 7.18 in (edge of the b...

Al made a point which I think may be helpful, Steve, which is that the concept of randomness is not generally well-understood in the lay population even though it affects pretty nearly everything around us. One common result of that misunderstanding is that most people attribute too much significanc...
