I don't know why you bothered. There was nothing wrong with it before. Well, everybody was right - I did not need to cut off the area of the grip, so I added it back (Loctite repair putty). But, as it turns out, it got cut off again when I flat cut the side of the grip so it will fit into the box (...

You could still remove the palm shelf and file/sand that area flat again. I just cut off the wood that was extending out below the little finger and it should be "good to go". I don't know why I did not see this simple fix before I posted. I think I have been working too many hours rework...
