Re: Precision Air rifle (fore end rail for 3PAR)

I need a riser (raiser?) block for shooting in the offhand position for one of my kids shooting an 8001. The rifle palm rest he wanted to use does not conform to ISSF rules. Would something like this fit? Would it slide back farther to be of use in offhand or is it intended for shooting from a rest ...

CZ 200T sounds like a trumpet

I have two CZ 200T's for the smaller kids on the shooting team. One of them makes a sound like a trumpet, a loud blast of air, when fired. The rifle appears to be in good condition, it is several years old with a few thousand pellets through it, but has never been serviced by a gunsmith. The o-ring ...

Re: FWB 65 repair

One of my friends has a FWB65 that is missing he rear sight leaf spring. While I had mine apart for replacing seals, I measured my spring and made a replacement from some steel. But I forgot to measure the size of the cylinder head screw that holds it in place. I don't have ready access to my pistol...

Re: FWB 65 repair

I have a lathe that I make silencer parts on. I'll have to give the seal a try. Can you tell me exactly what kind of polyurethane is used? It seemed to be a hard rubber material. I tested the pistol with a chronograph today. 497 fps with a stdev of 3 fps. Accuracy is back to what it was. My pistol w...

Re: FWB 65 repair

When I bought the pistol months ago I noticed that the little white buffer under the seal was brittle and flush with the cylinder, but I didn't know this indicated it was in poor condition. The seal in front looked good enough and I got 474 fps with a 3 fps stdev over the chronograph. I guess the bu...

FWB 65 repair

I bought a FWB M65 a while back. It appeared to be in very good condition with a slightly worn seal up front. $680 from an auction site. Last week it suddenly started shooting 196 fps instead of the usual 500 or so. I bought a new seal kit and ring. Below is the condition of the old seals. It should...

Junior shooting team in San Antonio

My 9 year old granddaughter is visiting me in WA in March. I plan to bring her to the local club to watch the local junior team practicing with precision air rifles. I have a cut down CZ 200T for her to try out. If my granddaughter likes shooting air rifle, I'm going to help my daughter set her up w...

Re: Used FWB 65 From E-bay

The pistol is packaged up and ready to ship. E-bay provided a shipping label at no cost to me. The rust in the barrel is not merely pitting corrosion, it is raised metal that forms bumps on the lands and grooves. There is also the issue of the barrel over rotated in the frame so much that the rear s...

Re: Used FWB 65 From E-bay

The other coach here has replaced seals on a few FWB 300s and a 600 rifles; he says they're easy and the 65 should be also. Unless I can get a new barrel cheap, this pistol is not one I want to keep.

Re: Used FWB 65 From E-bay

I've already started the attempt to resolve the dispute by contacting the seller. E-bay says to wait a certain number of days then contact them if it can't be settled. Not sure why the seller is unresponsive. I've always got the credit card charge reversal route if needed I suppose. I've used a crow...

Re: Used FWB 65 From E-bay

Bore paste will actually smooth out the raised bumps of corrosion and restore accuracy? I can probably restore the crown to good as new, but I feel it is unlikely I can improve the barrel much with bore paste. Does anyone have any experience with removing raised corroded metal in barrels with bore p...

Used FWB 65 From E-bay

One of the coaches for our junior rifle team brings his FWB 65 air pistol to the range so the kids can try it out. I've put about 50 rounds through it, by best score is 70/100 on an NRA B-40 target. When I saw one on E-bay for about $415, I bought it. It was described as used in good condition. It w...

Re: Quietest 10m air rifle?

For my Anschutz 8001 I used some appropriate sized brass that fit in the barrel drilled out to .25" that acted as baffles and greatly reduced noise.

Stuck pellets in 8001

A shooter at practice had an occasional habit of not screwing in the air cylinder all the way on her 8001. Tonight she did it again and got the usual "click" sound. After she properly tightened the cylinder, she did not check the bore clear and loaded another pellet. After pulling the trig...

Re: Kneeling position for an extra large young shooter

How long has he been using the kneeling position? I found that two things helped me; practice in the kneeling position and losing weight. I started out at about 235 lbs and weigh about 190 lbs now. Losing weight helped, but it was practice in position that helped the most. For me it was the front of...

Non-lead pellets and ammo

I'm involved in a discussion on another forum about attempts by the WA legislature to ban the use/possession of ammunition containing lead by anyone under age 21. There would be an exception for those who obtain the lead ammo from their parents. I'm being told by a few people who enjoy informal targ...

Re: CZ 200T

Thst was my worry originally. I guess a fiberglass mat and resin exoskeleton wouldnt look so good even if sanded back but it might increase strength as a last resort. Can you recommend a thin fiberglass mat I could use? Only well placed holes look good; can't really care less (for the most part) ab...

Re: CZ 200T

I glued the two stock halves together using epoxy. I had to hold the two halves together until the glue set as the curved surfaces would not stay still in clamps. The two pieces are nearly perfectly aligned. After removing the excess glue with a rasp and hitting it a bit with some sandpaper it looks...

Re: CZ 200T

Well, I screwed up. I was showing a new shooter how to use one of my CZ200's. She was shooting with a scope from the bench while I watched. She was doing okay until she finished ten pellets into a 10 meter bullseye; I took a look through the scope and at the same time she got up from the bench and l...

Re: CZ 200T

I would be afraid of making the pistol grip too small, and reducing its strength. Full size rifle have enough problem with cracking at the pistol grip. Maybe drill a hole through the grip and cement in a 1/4 inch diameter steel rod. That is my main concern also. There is already a hole drilled thro...
