Re: Experience with Anschutz 9015?

I would like to add a comment about stainless fasteners. Probably the ONLY redeeming value of stainess fasteners in general, unless they are super expensive alloy series 400 types, is they do not rust and look pretty. That's it. No other good reasons to hse them. Series 304 and 316 are the most comm...

Re: New air pistol... old-new shooter

I'll add my endorsement for the MGH1 as well, particularly as you are in Italy. Stefano and Mr. Morini have been of great help the last two times that I was at the factory. Last time updated the compensator to the new design. As someone else stated the electronic trigger is superb.

Re: Should I learn to shoot pistol or rifle?

The basics learned from pistol training are easily enough applied to rifle, with a few amendments. I would go with pistol. Find a nice used pistol and find a local club to practice at. If they have a coach, use his services. If not, you can always use internet based coaching services as offered by D...

Re: Online Air Pistol Competitions

Dan Ide and others - I have been doing some homework and have come up with a listing of "open" competitions that cater for a "veteran or Master" age category. There is a veterans only tournament at Plzen in the Czech Republic, as well as tournaments in Austria, Denmark and Sweden...

Three words "self positive reinforcemnt"! This is extremely important and often neglected. Give yourself total positive reminders before you atart the shot process. "Relax". "Trust your ability". "Execute".

Re: Rear sight centering

Dunkthehoop, Here is a rule of thumb I was taught about front sights. "You have control over the rear sight. You have no control over the target, as it is mounted and cannot move. So focus on the front sight." My coach taught me that when shots start to spread, there is usually only one pr...

Re: New Steyr EVO 10... HELP!!!

Mtl_Biker You are unfortunately suffering from "new-itis". I believe your first order should be to get on the internet and start reading. Read up up adjusting not only the "rake" of the grip but also finding a natural point of aim, which may require some change in the left/right ...

Re: ISSF Rule Interpretations

Sound Enhanced Hearing Protection This sounds like an oxymoron to me. I as always under the impression that hearing protection was there to "attenuate" sound (as in reduce it). So how do you get both attenuation and enhancement in the same device? Yes, yes, I know! They are talking about p...

Re: MATCH AND FINALS USING THE INTERNET III

To a certain extent you will find that auch an international match environment already exists in the 10M Pistol Competition League (PCL), which I administer on Facebook. No, it is not live video, but realistically (putting aside international time zone issues) ther is nothing to prevent me setting u...

Re: Number of Olympic Style Shooters in the World

I know in Poland, where I live currently, the number of shooters registered by the ISSF recognized national whooting organization (PZSS) would be very small, when compared to the number of local club participants. In my local area there are probably 15-20 clubs, each with 30+ members.

Steyr LP1P. 948 gram Matchguns MGH1 1078 grams Steyr LP10 978 gram I could get another 30 gram out of either of the Steyr pistols with some innovative machine work. As well you could use the Steyr "short" cylinder and reduce the weight some more, but for a full size air pistol it would be ...

Re: First Rifle Help -- Entering 10m Air Rifle at Mid-Twenti

I have some first hand experience with a "sporter" rifle (CZ200T). I bought one for my wife to get started in 10M Target shooting. What a surprize! Two years later she is still shooting with the rifle. Yes, I worked on the trigger some, and also put some decent Anschutz sights on it. Then ...

Re: Stripped Alan Head

If you are going to drill out the head of the allen bolt, this is best done on a vertical mill or at least a really good drill press. You want good control of both the workpiece as well as the drill. On a vertical mill you would simply use a 4-flute end mill, the same diameter, or marginally larger,...

Re: Online matches via electronic trainer

Hello SWAT. The PCL is less than a year old. I run it as a "one-man-band" and as you might imagine it does takes some time. Together with several of the registered competitors a set of regulations and rukes has been developed that allows shooter of all capabilities to compete. Yes, we woul...

Re: Stripped Alan Head

Further to wynne's comment, thus light tapping of the Torx bit into place will also help disturb the "bond" that is holding the Allen screw in place. As a "last resort", you could find a VERY talented welder with a TIG welder and have him weld an ordinary hex bolt shaft to the he...
