Re: Shot Process
TenMeterPeter, Thanks for your comment. Yes, I "illustrated" the question with a pistol shot process, but the salient points are equally pertinent to a process for rifle competition. I shoot rifle as well, and ai can say that my rifle technique is very close to the pistol shot process the ...

Re: Shot Process
JPK,
I did not mention the one constant that n all target shooting, that of concentrating on the front sight under all circumstances. It goes without saying that this is part of steps 8-12.

Re: Shot Process
Hello JPK, I am not an elite 10M shooter, but I am quite happy to give you my insight and illustrate this with my own "shot process". I divide this into three phases a) preparatory b) execution and c) recovery. Preparatory 1. Addressing the target - The importance of foot position? This ma...

Re: 10M AP Postal Match
Rover, I'll concede to your point, as the PCL does have a specific reporting format. That being said, I would still welcome any competitor who would like to join us at the PCL. We have competitors from around the world and at all levels of proficiency. As was mentioned, it is the idea of competing t...

Re: ISSF Rule clarification.
Just as a matter of explanation. As with any grip, there are days when they fit your hand better than others. Weather, temperature and your own hudration all have an influence. I have found on those days when your hand just does not feel right on the grip that a thin leather glove works wonders. I w...

ISSF Rule clarification.
In 10M pistol competition, is there are prohibition on wearing a shooting glove (something like a thin leather golf glove). I looked through the rules, but did not find anything definitive.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: How much do you shoot/practice?
Massrog and ABBY1996 - If you need a good place to practice your shooting under "quasi-match" pressure, I would invite you to enter the 10M Pistol Competition League (PCL), which I host on Facebook. Year round matches, one per month. It is all on the honor system. You send in a group photo...

Re: Sports psychologist
Being a "veteran" shooter, not that I have extensive years of shooting experience but simply old, I suffer from various maladies that affect my balance. This includes knees that hyper-extend, and a brace on my left ankle. For serious competitions I cannot wear the brace, so I started using...

Re: Sports psychologist
In case someone has not mwntioned it to you before, keep a shooting diary. Writing down the things that do work, including positive reinforcements, greatly helps your cognition. I recently dropped 10-20 points per match, and my shooting diary helped me identify a small change in my technique that wa...

Re: Recovering from injury
The very first thing I would attend to is the herniated disc condition. Shooting must take a back seat in my view.
Having said that, I see no reason not to shoot left handed, if your doctor does not see it as a problem.

Re: Sports psychologist
BTW - For me one of the positive keys is that I ONLY ever deal with the things over which I have "direct control", and the rest is put away for someone else to deal with. Assuming you have a disciplined shot routine, remember that the mind can multi-task two things relatively well, but thr...

Re: Sports psychologist
TommyH, I went/am still going through this same affliction. The key is positive visualization and trust building. No NEGATIVE thoughts are allowed. As you prepare for each shot sequence, have a message for yourself and literally tell yourself out loud. It is not good enough to "think" it, ...

As this is your "first" air rifle, please remember that it is the "process" that is important. Much more so than the hardware.

Re: Wich pellet for my steyr lp 10 ?
GOLD1978 Hello. As mentioned you should look up some previous threads. As you are just starting out, I would advise you to pay more attention to developing your "shooting process", rather than which lump of lead you stuff down the barrel. Believe me when I tell you that your pistol, in the...

Re: IDEA: What about a website offering online shooting clas
Learning is all about "retention". Generally, we remember much more of what we read, rather than hat we see or hear. I believe the basics can be garnered by reading any number of excellent books and or from the internet. There are many technical items about adapting a a pistol or rifle to ...
