Re: Returning to shooting, new to me 10m AP, groups suck :-(

Give the PCL league a try. It will help you in honing your competitive skills, and you can use either if the two pistols you own.

Best regards,

Paul

Re: Returning to shooting, new to me 10m AP, groups suck :-(

Finelid, Welcome to the world of AP. I would have to concur that it would help if the weight if the pistol was around 1000 gram. Second, I would check the trigger for release weight. To be legal it needs to be 500 grams or more. Then there are different ways to set up the stages of the trigger. When...

Re: How does one join the ISSF, or is that even a thing?

Houngan, Boy does your story sound familiar!! I went, and to some extent still do, through a series of slumps related to competition. It led me to develop the "10 Meter Pistol Competition League" (PCL). You can find it on Facebook, by looking up that name. PCL holds 10 competitions per yea...

Re: partcipation in postal matches.

You are always welcome to joint the "10M Pistol Competition League". I started this league on Facebook last year. We crowned our 2016 Champion, George Siordian of Phoenix AZ, this month. The 2017 season is already underway, but you have 24 hours to register and shoot a 30 shot match. Just ...

Re: New ISSF Fore-end rule

Why not make your own? All you need is two furniture bolts and a piece of wood. Total investment about $3.00 and 20 minutes time. File down the one end of the furniture bolt until it will, slide in the track. Drill two holes in the piece of wood, and affix to rifle. You can get fancy and use mahogany...

Re: Lens for SIUS target LED

Is there anything stopping you from using a variable iris, and pehaps a gray or "neutral density" filter to reduce the amount of light that strikes the retina in the eye?

Re: Optical puzzle

TenMetrePeter - I concur that very small iris apertures can have this effect. I have switched over to an iris with a variable aperture and am playing around with larger sizes. Will see how I go over the next few weeks.

Re: Optical puzzle

Markrem, thanks for the suggestion. I am already using the MEC Monocle system mounted on my Anschütz rear sight. This assures that I am looking through the centre of the lens. Still, this anomaly was there. I have been playing around with a variable opening size in the iris. When I use a larger iris...

Re: Friendly advice to new people: ball joint allen wrenches

Why are stainless steel allen wrenches easier to find if you drop them, over ordinary ones? I was always taught you do not torque anything with the ball end, because the hex surface area is severely reduced. Also if some really needs torqing (as compared to tightening) then use good qualit, heat tre...

Re: First AP match

Christopher, if you would like some additional "match oractice", have a look at the 10 Meter Pistol Competition League on Facebook. I administer this year long competition and we have a nice internnational group of shooters. They range young to old ( or ancient), male or Female, befinner t...

Re: Optical puzzle

Had another chat with my eye doctor and formthe moment we are going to try #1. I am having Neal at ISS make a couple if new lenses for both rifle and pistol, and I will see how I go. I have taken the position that it is not the end of the world and good things may result from all this.

Re: Optical puzzle

Update! Well, had my exam today. Generally I have reasonable vision, as below: Right Spher. 0. Cyl. .5. - 120 Left Spher.+1.0 Cyl. 0 However, the right eye has the befinnings of a very small, posterior cataract, which unfortunately is located precisely in the center of the lens. My opthamologists op...

Re: Correction lens on rifle rear sight

MEC glas Monocle

This is what I am using. I simply transferred the lens from my glasses, as it was the same diameter. In fact I could have simply used the holder as well, only having to re-index the actual lens.

You also might look at the "10M Pistol Competition League" on Facebook. This was initiated as a means of simulating match conditions and providing friendly, international competition. US shooter George Siordian was the winner of the inaugural season for the 10M Pistol Competition League. T...

Re: Correction lens on rifle rear sight

I would place the lens 40-70 mm from the iris orifice. The eye should then be 15-20mm from the other side of the lens.

Re: Are tins the most practical way of storing air gun pelle

I Certainly store them in a cool place, sealed with the original tape. I buy them 1-2 sleeves at a time, for both pistol and rifle. So that means a shipment of 40 tins. Now that is pretty heavy, and I can certainly tell if the box has been dropped or man-handled during transport. I guess it depends ...

Re: How much do you shoot/practice?

I'm with Rover on this one. Get the sights to a point where at least the tops of the front and rear sights align horizontally. Whether it is then placed at "6" or "sub-6" is a matter of personal preference. We refer to the way the sights appear as a "sight picture", bec...

Re: Free Rifle prone event remove from the Tokio 2020 OG

The loss of 50M prone from the next Olympic games does not need to be the demise of this event in general. Sure times change, and the OG cannot be everything to everyone. I sort of put this in the same category as competitions catering for veteran shootors (regardless of discipline). Considering I o...

Re: Shot Process

TenMeterPeter I shoot an Anschütz 9003 S2 and it definitely uses a 2-stage trigger. Certainly it could be adjusted to act as a single stage trigger if someone wanted that. At that point it becomes a shooter's personal preference. Personally, I have found that focusing on the front sight and trigger ...
