Re: Pistol (ISSF rules) coaching from 3 time Olympian via Sk

Elmas, While I would think that the production of some videos might be of "general" assistance to some shooters, how would you propose that these be funded? How would the author be recompensed for his "knowledge" ? Professional coaching, just like other "advice giving" ...

Re: Ready to retire your EVO?

Rover, I bought mine used in 2014 in the US for around 1000 dollars. I believe the largest drawback for US shooters is that the technical support in the USA is minimal. Fortunately I live in Europe and have been able to take my pistol to MatchGuns once a year for inspection and updating. Cesare pers...

Re: Twitch Shot in 10 Meter Air Pistol

ChipEk, As one of the senior age shooters on this forum, I am only too familiar with the vagaries of old age. First, surprise "spontaneous" shot releases are vital to accuracy. Any time your shot release becomes "deliberate", you are doing it wrong. Second, any pressure on the gr...

Re: Pistol (ISSF rules) coaching from 3 time Olympian via Sk

Just to prove that you are never too old to learn from a professional, I started training with Dina al ost 2 years ago as one of her first Skype students. We did weekly sessions for quite a few months and she helped me refine my shooting process, as well as unlearning some bad habits. When I started...

Re: Optical puzzle

Art, thank you for the advice. I reqched close to the same conclusion independently. Now using a+0.5 sph. + 0.5 CYL lens mounted on rear sight, with rather large1.5mm iris opening.

For pistol +0.5 +0.5 Cyl with iris and vertical slot. This works really well.

Re: 10M Shooting Masters Association (SMA)

While I like the idea of 4 age categories, I also recognize that many competitions would be hard pressed to have the "numbers" to make each category viable. One way to deal with this is to stipulate that there must be a minimum number of shooters participating in a category (i.e. 5). If no...

Re: 10M Shooting Masters Association (SMA)

Spencer, Thank you for the information. I am trying to find an answer to the age categories, and at the moment I have chisen the following: 1 - Mixed men/women 2 - course of fire 40 shots 3 - Age grouping master1 - 45-54 master2 - 55+ This seems to be the formula that appeals to at least three diffe...

10M Shooting Masters Association (SMA)

I have been speaking with several clubs around the world that hold open competitions, specifically for veteran shooters. One of th things that I noted was that each club had a different format for age classifications and course of fire. I have been working on developing a "common format", ...

Re: Beginner Air rifle questions

My wife shoots with a CZ200T (sold by Air Arms as well) and while it is a tier 2 rifle, she can hold her own in club competition. Yes, the original sights are a bit dodgy, but I replaced those with Anschutz. Added a foreshaft riser and some additional weight as well. I bought mine in CZ, so I only p...

Re: Adding weight to the grip

Building stamina can be done in various ways by repetitive exercise routines. I woukd say that this should not be done in the middle of a competitive season, but rather well before the season begins. I would also look at how well the grip fits your hand. Perhaps some simple modifications might help.

Re: Training systems

David, I will admit that the time interval chart is of limited value to me as well. However for a new shooter, trying to establish a shot routine, the chart may help. There are two metrics that I would like, either applicable to each individual shot, or a series of shots. 1. The first is the percent...

Re: Training systems

David, I was one of the early adopters of TRACE. I bought two systems. One my wife and I use and the other is on permanent loan to the club we belong to. As an early adopter I helped the developers by testing early versions. So, we are now through to the third version of software, and at least the s...
