Lead poisoning

Lead poisoning shouldnt'be taken lightly. Lead accumulates in your body, and has very long half life times. (half life as in excretion). Even when shooting air, just take a white tissue and wipe your backstop, after a couple of shots: significant quantities of lead dust are set free. That said, ther...

Hmmm, Interesting thread. A while ago I started to operate the trigger with the tip of my finger, approximately squarely under the fingernail. Combined wih a slightly more forward position of the trigger blade, jerking was reduced (but not gone - still a lot of practising needed). Any others out the...

Idealy you should also be removing your hand from the grip and re-presenting the gun to you shooting hand if not after every shot after more no more than 5. It is esentual to keep the blood flowing. This is the first time I've seen this suggestion (though of course, that may only be fresh evidence ...

Hw40 vs. Izzy

Difficult one. I have an Izzy, and regularly shoot an Hw40. Price levels in Europ are somewhat different: Hw40 95 EUR, Izzy 300-400 EUR, if you can find one. (I've bought mine from Pilkguns anyway). Trigger The Hw40 trigger is very sweet, typical for the Weihrauch family. I'd call it match-like. The...

Plug some numbers into a ballistic calculator. If you are making radical (more than 3 clicks?) adjustments, something other than ballistics of the .22LR must be going on? Steve Swartz I'll try to run the numbers. Actually, I don't click (most of the time), I stick to the 25 m distance settings. I h...

It doesn't make him a liar as you are aluding to ("pretending to have a sub-six hold"). Whoa, easy. I'm not calling anyone a liar. The guy pretends to have an extremely deep sub six hold, that's all I said, and I'm not aluding anything, I just try to understand. But genuine thanks for you...

Sub six hold and POI shift

We have a very interesting discussion going in Belgium. I shoot AP (IZH46M), .22 (new Haemmerli 208s) and 9mm (SIG P210-6S). Sighted sub six at 10m (AP) and 25 m (others). I usually shoot a couple at 12m, to calm down, group and whatnot, and then move on to 25 m. At the shorter distance, I'm low (bu...

I see very few advantages to move to N2, except: -availability in particular cases -slightly more efficient (due to lower density) -if pure, by definition dryer than air -perhaps less corrosive due to lack of oxygen Ar should be slightly less efficien than air, due to the slightly higher density, an...

other methods

I personally have used the Dremel tool w/ a small "ball" drill. Took a good hour to drill a lot of half-holes, but the result was very good. The other solution I would dare to try comes from dinghy racing: -apply a coat of thick varnish, paint or epoxy resin, cover with coarse sugar or sal...

Trigger adjustments

Gary says most of it, but I just like to add the sequence I apply to mine: 1. Increase (temporarily) the trigger tension - screw C 2. Always fully cock the trigger when assessing any adustments 3. Loosen A liberally 4. Adjust F to taste (primary trigger travel) 5. Adjust B to taste (secondary trigge...
