Re: Does decrease velocity save gas?

In regulated airguns, decreasing pellet velocity by simply reducing the hammer spring preload may save gas in total but doing so can cause other problems if taken to far. Bob Sterne on the Gateway to Airguns forums explains tuning a regulated airgun really well in this thread: https://www.gatewaytoa...

Using time of flight from Chairgun, about 1.3mm.

Re: Steyr LP 10 Velocity Variations

Another possible cause of velocity variation could be some dirt in the area of the hammer and hammer spring. Its pretty easy to open that up and clean. Are the breech and transfer port seals looking good? Regarding air consumption, is this LP10 by chance a compact? Long time ago I took apart my Alph...

Re: New AP shooter needs advice

The pellets i chose to shoot in my LP50 were those that pressed snugly into the magazine without falling out. H&N FMP 5.49 irrc. Steyr does sell a weaver mount that slides onto the shroud and doesn't block use of the iron sights. https://photos.app.goo.gl/XXcoKY4wbk2aQw6d7 There are other mounts...

Re: MATH RIDDLE: sight adjust from 5m to 10meters

While i agree this is interesting and not simple drama, shooting sighters is the only way to know for sure. Do a practice match including adjusting to 10m prior to the next match cause there's more to the adjustment than just the ballistics. Lighting differences will impact elevation as will the dif...

Re: MATH RIDDLE: sight adjust from 5m to 10meters

Unfortunately in ChairGun the incline minimum increment is 1 deg (and is for shooting at elevated targets as in field target). Start range min increment is also 1 yd. My thinking is: The barrel axis has to have a positive incline so that the ballistic trajectory will intersect with the bull. The sig...

Re: MATH RIDDLE: sight adjust from 5m to 10meters

So i cheated and used the Hawke Optics software Chairgun Pro. Configured for RWS Hobby pellets shot at 500fps (152.4m/s) with a sight height guess of 1.27cm (0.5") and a 5m zero the POI at 10m is 0.5mm high. Almost a double zero at those distances assuming the sight height is correct... 5 vs 10...

Another source for 4500psi fills for SCBA tanks is fire stations.

They too appreciate beer. Cookies in Utah.

Re: Another 'Which 10M Air Pistol' - Looking for missing details

The P8X cylinder filled to 200bar (2900psi) will get you around 200 shots. The gauge is nicer & seemingly more accurate than the scale on the K12 cylinders. The significant advantage of the P8X over the K12 is the adjustable grip (K12 grip is fixed) and the method of adjustment is very convenien...

Re: I'm sorry your new air pistol is a piece of crap

Does having the rear sight over the wrist joint make sense so that angular wobble at the wrist is apparent only at the front sight (movement of the rear sight is minimized with it over the joint)? If the rear sight is in front of the wrist then wobble from the wrist would cause both the front and re...

Re: Help ! Am I making a mistake ?

Had a K12 now have a P8X.
Advantages of P8X: grip adjustment, better pressure gauge, more effective absorber, trigger is just as good if not a bit better--more crisp w/ no overtravel & i found i like the sight canting now that i have it.

Hi Rhyno, Lucky you having a dealer nearby that carries glasses and both the LP10 and P8X, you'll be able to check it all out. I have a P8X and really like it. All adjustments including trigger are clearly labeled. Only 2 tools are needed to make all the common adjustments. The way the grip adjusts ...

Re: Does anyone shoot 60 shot AP using Point of Aim.

Wouldn't POA avoid hitting higher or lower depending on ambient lighting with sub 6 area hold? Where brighter light 'stops down' the iris such that the black blur diameter appears smaller and shooting high vs. lower light when the iris is open and the black blur diameter appears larger and shoot low...

Re: Compensator for LP10

It is likely that the compensator has little to do with the more pleasant shooting nature of your friend's LP10. More likely are the adjustment/cleanliness of the stabilizer (recoil absorber) and/or the set muzzle velocity. Or barrel weights even.
