LED range lites

Have new range, and put lLEDs on several lanes "just to see". Lanes do have a bluer caste to the lighting. However, shooters report much less eye strain during a full 60 shot match. Rear sight needs to be opened (as suggested here) and lanes seems to be a preference for many shooter.

gun cradles on stands

We have used them since Bill first made them. Never had a stand fall over in any match. The idea is to make it easier for shooters with stiff shooting pants to pick up the rifle. Works great and shooters love them.

Think of the Junior shooters that have one more reason to shoot a variety of Sectionals, to move towards a new goal.

All shooters now have an excuse to shoot more Sectionals and move to more International levels of competition.

PaulB There are "makeup air heaters" a commercial item that adds some heat to the incoming air. Check with a commercial HVAC supplier. Basically they "kick-on" when your exhaust air system starts to cycle. You will still need your heating system, but the incoming air will not be ...

pellet options

We shoot 300XTs and have had great results with Vogel pellets from our host, Pilkingtons. Worked out the size and weight of pellets, and have stayed with the same for 4 years.

Do the pellet testing thing, and see.

If the weight is an issue, not to worry, as the XT has weights in the forarm that can be removed or moved to get a balance point that is correct for you.

Could also recommend a "kisser", an old term referring to a little spot of anything that you tape to your cheek piece. Use as a reference point that you always put your cheek on the same spot. Often use a little piece of paper folded over and taped down. Just enough so you can feel it with...

Gerhard,

Did you use a small hand held steamer, or a floor model?

Was wondering about the amount of water that would get on the jacket to wash out and stiffening.

Another point of "interest" is the level of shooter being coached. Work with a beginning shooter in any discipline is vastly different than coaching an advanced or elite shooter. With some of the opinions expressed here, should the shooter have different coaches at each level. Or should a ...

Got several used leather jackets, and used Krud Kutter on the finished leather. Did a great job! Not sure of "rough out leather".

Quickly noting a problem with the energy requirements for such an accessory, it is still cool this early in April. Johan, Having coached several tall shooters, found out one issue is too much tension in your back. This comes from the effort to keep your leg straight. Try relaxing your back, down into your pelvic area. This will roll your hips a little bit forward (putting your center of gravity a little bit forw...

Soupy, Having volunteered in scoring, I have to raise another question. What was gained by the time and expense of shooting the 50 yd match? There is no or very little separation of shooters in the 50 yd match. All of the top half of the shooters may be separated by "a handful of points". ...

Martha, I coach a university air rifle club and we have 8 of the Walther 300XTs. The Alutecs are great for a club usage. Easy to change setup from one shooter to the next, and as accurate as any of the top of the line precision air rifles. However, for a single shooter buying their own rifle, I woul...
