Re: NEW Orion Athena electronic scored targets.
Let's say I build my own stand For the money and time that would be required to build a stand I would opt for this for $40 https://www.harborfreight.com/tool-storage-organization/u-s-general-tool-storage/tool-carts/16-inch-x-30-inch-steel-service-cart-5107.html Or this for $60 if I wanted the talle...

Performance Journals and athletes
Who uses performance journals? I put in my journal: equipment, match scores, changes to equipment, important articles that influence my shooting style, pre-shot routine changes and details about the range that affected my game. I also have in there final scores for WAG, Olympic and other recent big ...

Re: Get a grip, man!
To answer my own question about potential improvements in match points from a grip change . . . One of my athletes has been shooting precision air pistol for almost two years. She has had her own air pistol for almost a year of that. Her overall scores have been pretty consistent match-to-match, but...

Re: Get a grip, man!
For me, I was hesitant to make modifications to my grips for many reasons. 1. If i modify the floor of the palm shelf at the rear of the grip with a relief cut for my wrist does that make the grip illegal, since part of the grip would curve up slightly? 2. How tight or how loose should a grip be. 3....

Re: Grant Funding for 2021?
our Washington state rep is not returning phone calls, and nobody at NRA Foundation HQ is picking up the phone or returning calls either. Yup. The NRA Foundation Field Reps got furloughed. Our Arizona Field Rep hung on for quite a while in lombo. We got an email about October that our new Field Rep...

Re: World Cup without tools?
That is painful to watch . . . because I lived it. At last years SASP Collegiate Nationals one of my athletes wanted to keep the hex wrench for the optics. I like to pass the responsibility to the athletes. It is a good demonstration that they are taking responsibility for themselves, their equipmen...

Re: Benefits of dry fire
LIVE FIRE: admit it or not but it is VERY difficult to not be OUTCOME based when shooting live fire. "What was my score?" is a far more common thought than re-evaluating any fundamental applied during the shot process. DRY FIRE: removes the opportunity to be outcome based on the score. It'...

Re: Tau-7 procedures
What exactly is "the next problem". I've spent about 10 years maintaining almost 20 Tau's for the college team I help coach. She shot a new personal best on Wednesday. She is getting used to the procedures for managing her Tau7. A 'new to me problem' is the proper procedure to change CO2 ...

Glad to see this program growing. Like any program out there they rely on volunteers. Anyone interested in helping could contact them and contribute their time to getting more kids in the shooting sports pipeline. Re: Pellet performance vs cost
I use the plastic 100 round shaker boxes for matches. That allows me to scan the whole box worth of skirts very quickly. Every once in a while, I will see a pellet that is suspect, and pitch it. Even with RWS Basic, it's a once every couple tins event. That seems like a perfectly reasonable approac...

Re: Pellet performance vs cost
I shot an air pistol match last night and set my own personal record with a 549. I am trying to 'tune in' to my new pistol and begin to be more attentive to the subtle differences in feel and position when competing. Pardini K12 RWS Basics The 'feel' for how the pellets were loading into the barrel ...

Re: Pellet performance vs cost
RWS Diablo Basic Order ((by phone) from Neal Stepp at ISS. Good price and 500 to a tin. Tell him Rover sent you. Rover what have you done? Your persuasive argument got me shooting these a few years ago. Now that I am running low, I find that they are no longer available in 500 count tins. Sheesh. W...

Re: Hill Pump Questions
I don't see any indication that it has any sort of drier or moisture control. If that's true, that is a great way to rust out you pistols over time. I know Benelli Kites use plain steel Belleville washers in their regulators. If you feed them moist air, they will rust & eventually the regulator...

Re: Hill Pump Questions
My local Scout shooting team just bought one of the new Umarex compressors for $550. It is a little bigger than a large lunchbox. https://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/Umarex_ReadyAir_Portable_Compressor/9732 After requiring the Scouts to pump (with a Hill) their air pistols and rifles for the past two yea...

Re: USA Shooting to Hold Last Open Board Meeting of 2020
My observations from the final USA Shooting board meeting of 2020. 1) The Junior Olympic pistol match will be held at Fort Benning sometime in June. This event will have USA Shooting coaches and trainers to teach, refine and mentor future Olympians. 2) USA will bring the level of funding for rifle/p...
