Hello John, As the others have said, I also feel that a hunting rifle is not suitable for ISSF 10m. But for your interest, in my country (Indonesia) hunting rifles are used in an event which is called Air Rifle Hunting (ARH). The current national record (not yet registered I think) is 553 an the rif...

Thank you for all and I'm sorry for the late reply. Rob has hit it correctly that it was "just" a training tool, and he is also correct that it wasn't been communicated very well. My coach said that there would be times when I would not be able to "take my time" so that a shot mu...

Fifteen seconds are sufficient to take a shot?

Dear all, Since I started learning how to shoot properly in any ISSF events, my coaches always told me the importance of rhythm. Of course I followed their advice and by doing it time after time, now I have some sort of ritual going on each time I took a shot. Today, as usual, we were going through ...

A quick glance to my 2005 ISSF rule book seems to prove that you' re right.

"7.4.7.9.1 ... If a belt is worn in the standing position, the buckle or fastening must not be used to support the left arm or elbow...."

I think it's against the rule if you rest your elbow on your belt. But I think none of the ROs will check it anyway.

Hi, I hope I can provide some info. What are the pros 'n cons between canvas, leather, heavy cotton, and other materials in shooting apparel. Canvas Pros: rigid, good as a support, better esthetic (for some people). Cons: will become dirty quick, especially the white ones (I suggest for not using wh...

At the bottom of the page provided by superstring, we can notice that the holes on the barrel has a zig-zag pattern (right-left-right-left). Anybody can explain why are they located like that? If I want to drill holes just for compensating purpose, I think I will drill all holes in line one another....

Dan, basically compensators work by compensating the upward movement of muzzle (muzzle jump) by creating a counter torque as the gas comes out of the gas ports (holes). I have found the movement of the pistol when fired with a pellet and when empty to be quite different. There is much more upward mo...

One interesting alternative is to aim at the bottom edge of the paper target, doing so will remove your vertical problem (but it will make a slight horizontal problem as the bull became quite far from your sight). But don't take this seriously though, as I'm not a pistol shooter. I use this "ai...

That's unfortunate indeed, and unfortunately too I failed to notice that there is something on the main page: "Last up-date on Saturday 29 Janu 2000", hm... :( Why was it's factory closed? Are there anybody who still use X-Concept? What are people's opinion about it (and about UniquE)? I'm...

"UniquE" rifle

Hello there, I'm new to this board. Do you guys know about French's "UniquE"? Their new rifle (X-Concept) appears in the book "Ways of the Rifle" (on page 181 there's a rather close up of it). After days of searching, finally (with some luck) I found their website ( here ). You c...
