Typical scores may vary from club to club , but around our ranch a 540 is a good outing , a 550 would be cause for celebration . A high 560 -570 would prolly get you into the finals at the Grand Prix in Toronto . Perhaps we're just underachievers . Dont let your score deter you from competing , ther...

For a while I used a sandbag from a benchrest barrel rest (liberally loaded with lead ). Being a lazy old bugger I used to frequently load my Lp 10 one handed . YMMV .

The P44 has a very sweet trigger . The ONE example I had the opportunity to handle was much nicer in the trigger department than my LP10 , and felt at least as good as my Morini 162 . I had a hard time believing the trigger was legal , the vendor assured me that in fact it was . It looks to be a ful...

Depending on it's choice of fodder , you may find target grade shorts hard to come by /expensive .IRIC , they can still be used for some NRA bullseye events .

Hang in there daisy , let me know when ya get there , I'll hoist a cold one in your honor . Thanks everyone , for the kind words , it's been a tad frustrating , I've oscillated in the high 400's , up to 496 quite a few times . I have got as high as 517 in practice . I dont have the eyesight , and re...

Things are looking up !

I finally broke got my elusive 500 . Most of you guys would jump out windows if you did that rotten , but for me it's a milestone . I'm basically an AP shooter , wanting to aquire an intelligent understanding of AR shooting . I shoot AR a couple of times a month , plus league matches . If I ever get...

The trigger issue has been dealt with , I have heard they have a strong following in Germany . A friend who's judgement I respect has told me the newest version is a dead sexy beast . Dont count em out yet .

Most clubs know a tame optician , and may give you a chance to see a few different frames . Dont go to one of the eyeglass places in the mall . The fella our club sees lets you bring a cleared , cased AP to the consultation . Around our club we have Knoblocs , Champions , and a couple of pairs of Va...

I believe the orange is a kindly gift from our host and is not standard , kinda like that little cone like device he throws in for LP10's ( tank seal replacement aid ) . Very nice gesture .

In addition to what has already been mentioned , noise would prolly be an issue with other competitors and range officers . Higher velocities can produce more leading - not too good for accuracy . Wadcutter pellets dont like extremley high velocity , they are engineered for a lower velocity range . ...

Re: your question on sight radius , many would say a beginner is better off adjusting down the sight radius of the typical match AP . Excessive sight radius tends to magnify natural unsteadyness of the hand , which tend to cause an " oversteering " reaction . Less sight radius will make yo...

There are three ways to go , an Izzy (IZH46M ) , something descent - used , lots of CO2 out there , still pretty good if ya get the right deal . Or you can go with something new , this is the route I took ; in fact I couldn't decide - bought both a Styer LP10 , and a Morini 162E short . I dont regre...

You might get lucky and find a Clark accurized ruger on the secondary market , they are extremley accurate . They do not have the Ergos of the euro guns , things like recovery time in rapid fire etc . Another option might be a S&W 41 , or Hi Standard . I dont know about parts and service on Hi S...

It may have been an anointing rather than a desecration , I had a pretty good practice with some pretty repectable groups ( by my standards ) . I'll consider renting out his services to other aspiring rifle shooters . I have discovered the deffinative way to make cat furniture , load a gear bag with...

My Cat's opinion of Styer rifles .

I was getting my gear together prepartory to a trip to the range , rifle case open on the floor . My old male kitty must have thought it was a new fangled cat box . He proceeded to pee in the box . Fortunatly he missed all the areas where cat piss could do any real damage , just got the bloop tube a...

Check out Rink's website , it gives you a regimen for measurement . I think I would go with a tapemeasure - hands not being ridgid . Other makers prolly have instructions .

In Canada pretty well all the Morinis I have seen are Electronic triggered , The Mechanical trigger is reputed to be nice , but not as good as the electronic . I would go so far as to say , at the risk of incurring Francesco's wrath , that the electronic trigger is the main selection criteria . If y...
