Re: Eyesight, sights and iris

I could show you the maths for irregular alignment of the front and back sight and that is scary and you would wonder how it is possible to hit the ten, parallel misalignment is nothing in comparison. Psychologically beginners want to go for the middle of the black especially if they have come from ...

Re: Eyesight, sights and iris

Think you may have found you have answered your own question as you have found if you bring your target into focus by using an iris your shots go all over the place. What you want to do is to be able to see the molecular structure of the front sight - meaning it it perfectly in focus. That will mean...

Re: aiming at the top of the bull

Try this: Pack out your front sight to raise it or make a tall front sight, this is to push the poi to below the poa and also take the poi down using the sights. Now aim high 12 and see what happens. Why? you cannot see the black at all and you are solely looking at the front sight picture so your b...

Re: Cleaning works, especially on your comp.

There is a middle ground with air pistol maintenance, where a pull through and compensator clean might be worthwhile especially if you have been habitually using cheapo pellets. When I've been forced to use low end pellets rather than my preferred R10's I do find lead "glitter" in the load...

Re: Holding Air Pistol Cylinders for Rebuild?

Whatever vice you use make sure it is in good condition and the jaws do not droop or are out of parallel in any way and the smallest jaws I would use are 5", 1/4" tan leather as soft jaws works, not sure about the plastic used in 3D printing as it is slippery as hell and may give up under ...

Re: Get a grip, man!

10m pistol is a precision sport, you have to get everything as near correct as you can - confidence. When do you start altering your new Rink grips? - the day you get them - grips are disposable. Aversion to altering them to keep their looks or keep the resale value pleases me to see in my competito...

Re: Super Lube Mystery Failure

You have just demonstrated most succinctly for everyone to understand that silicone lubricant should not to be used on a metal to metal surface as it promotes galling. Lube threads with graphite loaded petroleum based grease as it is on the low pressure side of the cylinder BUT only a very small amo...

Re: Pardini K10 cylinder valve washer?

If the K10 cylinder is anything like the K12, yes it is a simple job to replace, I've not measured up my spares to compare it to yours but will do later, what I will say is that use a O ring that is harder than the normal common all garden shore 70, a shore 90 hardness is working well for me in that...

Re: FWB 65 repair

Well done! looks about the same crumbly mess I had some years ago when I decided to get into 10m and bought a 65, being an engineer I set my bench out to change the parts but it took three times as long as it should as I spent so much time marvelling at the engineering, it was a complete joy to look...

Re: Steyr LP 50 questions

The compact is very popular and is not only shot by small girls and oldies, I only quoted 40 shots in context of competition where you always make sure everything is perfect but it would see out 60 shots plus sighters without problem, it just what people do in competition. The compact just seems to ...

Re: Steyr LP 50 questions

The standard LP50 is superb at 25m you do not need any more speed , test it using a PROPER pistol clamp and you will get a single hole over 5 shots with a properly serviced pistol. From 10m to 25m I go up 8 clicks but that is due to the relative sizes of the two targets and not the fall off. I use i...

Re: Front sight drops as match progresses

Not focusing on front sight and letting focus wander and letting the target impinge into your total sight picture, if you watch the front sight it will not drop in relation to the back sight because you will rectify it.

Re: Dissecting the Benneli Kite

possibly another major reason it did not shift was that it was not being held firmly in a big immovable vice (with protection) but simply with a shifting spanner in the other hand. I'm so pleased there are other engineers that analyse what they have under microscopes, there are a couple of British m...

Re: Dissecting the Benneli Kite

I've tracked down an exploded dia of the kite and the bit you are trying to extract will not be locked in with loctite it will be the general tightness and the O ring you will have to defeat, but heat is correct method for screws that have locking fluid on the and came across them on the K12. where ...

Re: Dissecting the Benneli Kite

The coefficient of expansion is larger for alloy against brass, warm it up using a hair dryer but not a hot air gun, alloy spirits heat away fast so it will take a while to get the heat in and insulate the thing from the vice well as that will act as a big heat sink. Perhaps put the socket in the fr...

Re: Trigger shoe anatomic topology

Trigger blade is so personal but you should not offset effort from the C/L of the barrel the Putter trigger from the same people has a very big following but is out of production (last time I asked). The Putter has no slope like this one and is straight with no curve towards the bottom. If you think...

Ok so you are wanting to service your Kite yourself because of a problem of not being able to get a professional to do it for you. Before you even think about it make sure the tools you are going to use are the best money can buy - especially the drivers, torx, allen, phillips, pozi and slot point a...
