I too would be curious to hear the reasons given.

That a gun store would turn down a paying customer seems rather odd to me!

Re: need iron sight advice for 1911 target use...

... I want something with dots, post, ghost aperature, straight eights, etc. I don't have any preferences for tritium or fiber; just an easy accurate aiming system... ... In my head I can see liking something with a V notch or line post with a small tritium dot in the front... All of these you ment...

Rule 7.4.4.1 Key C 60mm Distance from center of the front sight ring or top of post to center of bore either directly above or offset (except for those athletes firing from the right shoulder but using their left eye). It's too low if you ask me, the rules definitely work against big, tall guys like...

+1 on the Lee tool! They are so inexpensive purchase two ... and leave one set up for small primers and the other for large. That way you save yours self the "hassle" of changing the seating rods. Okay, I know it only takes what, about 15 seconds to change them, but hey I'm lazy, like to h...

Page 32 and then page 218 on the score books linked to above. I think of it this way, when using a outward scoring gauge, if the flange "LEAKS OUT" into the lower scoring band then it's a lower value hit. If it doesn't leak it's a higher level. By scoring band I mean the wide space between...

SAMMI for small pistol primer pockets is 0.118 - 0.122 SAMMI specs also call for primers to be seated 0.002 - 0.005 below flush. The anvil of the primer contacts the floor of the pocket before the primer cup bottoms out. This slightly crushes the priming pellet creating better ignition. The cup shou...

[quote="harmoniumsCan you measure the diameter of the hole? Is it better than 0.25?[/quote] I probably won't be putting the guns in a vise again anytime soon as it's a bit of a pain. I didn't measure the groups when I ran this test but the ragged holes were probably around 1 3/4 times the pelle...

I have two 853's now, just got one of the CMP rebuilds. My boys are shooting them. Both shoot one large ragged hole at 10m when clamped. Granted it's a large hole, but it's a hole none-the-less. This is using the CMP brokered Vogel practice pellets. It's not up to the specs of my LG210 by any means ...

I'm not sure what you are asking. You set 'them' to where you like 'them'. You choose settings that will provide the trigger pull that works with your style and allows you to perform the best. For example, some folks like a large amount of trigger over-travel (me for instance) some people don't like...

It there some place that gives good descriptions of Knobloch v Champion v Varga glasses?

The individual manufactures sites are pretty much worthless (Knobloch & Champion) and I can't find anything on Varga except the tiny amount on Pilk's site.

But, feel free to carry on doing that if you think you are right and everyone else is wrong. There is a problem with that line of thinking ... I'm an OTC and LR shooter from way back and find my Walther LG210 is an excellent aid for both standing and prone. The benefits for standing are probably pretty obvious and that is not what you are asking about so on to prone. The air rifle will not give you any help with wind doping (shoot a .22LR ...

+1 on a Ruger for a first time pistol. It will be a very long time before you can outshoot it. It's simple to care for, and parts are everywhere. That makes sense since the iPhone is a battery hog in the first place!

My camcorder with its 6 year old battery will give me a many hours use in standby mode and never heats up ... so that's an advantage. I would have to use a cord to pipe the image to a TV or other viewing device however.
