Thank you everyone for all your feedback. I was down the club on Tuesday and shot a 100, 99 and 98. Of the three I missed two were low again and one was high that I was able to call and i'm certain it was positional. I showed the cards to the club coach (now that he's back from the commonwealth game...

Thanks for the input Tim. I'm confident that it's not an NPA issue as I'm unable to call these shots after the follow through (there are other missed shots that I can easily call!!). I'm also quite fanatical about checking position before shooting. Its getting frustrating that these shots are all go...

Flinching

Hi all I've dropping an average of two points per card that I can't call. These missed shots are mostly low at seven o'clock and into the nine or even 8 occasionally (25 yds indoor prone). I'm beginning to think that a flinch in the shoulder is the cause and pushing the shots low. Therefore my quest...

Hi James This is exactly the same problem I was having, taking up the first stage and then releasing it it before taking the shot would cause the sear to catch and not return. Lowering the spring tensions would show this up as they pull the sear back into its starting position. The problem is that t...

Hi James Are you experiencing any specific problems with the trigger? I have a 1813 and the sear started to wear, if I took up the first stage and then released again (I know bad habit!) the sear would stick at the end of the first stage and the trigger would then have zero spring tension on it. I m...

Hi guys With my Gehmann I've worn through the grip in both elbows in only nine months (fairly easy to replace), one of the shoulder straps has torn off flush with the jacket (not so easy to fix) and it rides up during shooting. I'm hoping that a custom made jacket won't do this. I have spoken to Pip...

Kurt Thuune vs Hi-Tec Jacket

I need to ask for help again! After nearly wearing out my Gehmann jacket in less than a year I need to buy a decent made to measure jacket that wont slid across my sholders. I have a budget of around £500 to £600 and will be using it for prone only (at the moment). I've narrowed my choice down to a ...

Thanks for all the comments, I think KennyB has hit the nail on the head. The action is a 1913 so although it could be off centre it's less likely. I seem to be alternating between the two distances regularly at the moment and wanted to establish a quick "20 clicks up" type of approach whe...

Thanks for all the comments, I should have stated I have the 20 click anschutz rear sights with adjustable cant so adjustment is true up/down & left/right. It may be 1 or 2 degrees off but no more. My thought was maybe the rifling in the barrel may cause the bullet to have a spiral path down the...

Sight changes between 25 and 50 yds

Can anyone help me get my head around this? It's probably a simple answer. When I change from 25 yds indoor to 50 m/yds outside I not only have to adjust by the expected elevation but also windage by a similar amount. So why do the shots drop low and left at the longer range rather than just low? I ...

From the colour of your thumb you must be in agony by the end of the shoot! It looks to me as you need to move the handstop forward a small amount (around 5mm). There isn't enough room for your arm to fit under the rifle without forcing the wrist back. You should be able to do this without changing ...

Sorry to revive an oldish thread however I've had exactly the same experience last week! I had a batch testing appointment at Bisley with RWS and the results were terrible too. The best group size measured 15.5mm where other rifles were at about 12.5mm with the same ammo. My tenex control was 26.4mm...

Thanks for everyone's input on this.

I've had some time off from work so I've been spending quite a lot of time at the range trying most combinations! For the best results I ended up bringing the hand stop back slightly to raise my position, and then adjusted the sling accordingly.

Many thanks

Thanks for your replies guys. The trigger itself is adjusted all the way forward, I've even reversed the vertical pin to bring it as forward as possible. I've just measured the LOP and butt plate to trigger is 13 3/4 inch, so maybe too far. However the stock is only adjusted out by 1 1/4" so I ...

Hi guys, sorry with being so vague. I'm shooting an 1813, which I've only owned a few months after returning to shooting after a long (16yr) gap. I'm already hitting out the occasional ton but also the odd 95 and need to settle on a final fixed position to improve consistency from. When I bought the...

Reducing Length of pull or move hand stop back?

Sorry if this is a silly question but... Whilst in the prone position the barrel wants to push left. I've read and been told to reduce the stock length (or LOP), however would I get the same result moving the hand stop back towards me? I have recently set the LOP as the distance from my bent elbow w...

Could I bring this thread back to the subject of barrel damage and ask a few questions? Nigel, did the VFG paste work and have you retested the grouping results? Is lead fouling easily removed with a phosphor bronze brush or does it need to be polished out? The reason I ask is that I've just returne...

Jim IMO your pulse issue is undoubtedly caused by you having the sling pull from the inside of the arm. Before you try adjusting your whole position just try changing the sling pull. As Lee mentions, if your sling has grip on the inside it should resist rotating round the arm too much. Good luck Bryan

Jim I thought I would share my thoughts, from personally experience and from reading ways of the rifle, however I'm not a coach. I've found that by using a higher position with a steeper angle at the V of the elbow prevents the sling moving down back the arm whilst in position. A higher position als...

I ugraded my ESE sling two weeks ago for the Anschutz swing sling with the micro adjuster and I'm very impressed with it for the money. I'm also getting zero pluse through it. I liked the look of the MEC but couldn't justify the price (around twice as much) plus the sling holder is extra for the MEC...
