Izh 35 mags

Except when I did it the base plug pin was very hard to remove, I used a drill press to push the pin so had plenty of leverage but even so... Once the pin was removed the base plugs would still not come out. I was not inclined to force them. It looked as if the mag has been punched into them around ...

.22 Pistol

In an effort to be of some help:

What do you plan to use it for?
What have you used up to now?
What do you like and dislike so far?
Why is your choice limited to SSP and SP20?

Wadcutters

It's a heeled bullet, i.e., the rotating band is the same diameter as the OD of the case. The heel of the bullet is smaller by the case thickness. A HBWC can't expand that much. The barrel would be designed for the geometry of the cartridge and vice versa. HBWC don't generally expand, the bullet is...

Grips and wrists

Can anyone say exactly what the definition of where the hand stops and where the wrist starts is?

The rules say "No part of the grip, frame or accessories may touch any part of the wrist.

To my my eye most of the grips pictured look illegal, touching the forearm never mind the wrist.

Not an expert but from what I have seen at the ranges (in the dim past) 1. Do the .38 HBWCs have any accuracy issues, e.g. tipping or keyholing? They certainly do. 0.32 is worse due to the geometry dia, length 2. What is the typical relationship of successful bore diameter to bullet diameter? With H...

38

N310 does not generally seem to be recommended for 0.38.
The charge would be small so double or triple charges would be possible, and it would be inconsistent.
A less dense slower powder is a better bet.

Hollow base wadcutters vs Bevel base wadcutters

My experience loading 0.32, and it was in a S+W M16 in 0.32 H+R magnum which was not a great start, was HBWC loads are very difficult to get right. BBWC by comparison were much more forgiving, but possibly not quite so accurate. Better to have a 40mm group than a 30mm group and a flyer. For powder c...

.22 Rifles

Very interesting. I'm not an expert but: Bear in mind the procedure for breaking in a centrefire rifle with high velocity jacketed ammunition and that for low velocity lubricated lead bullets is completely different. Remember also its very easy to wear out a .22 barrel by cleaning, esp with dry patc...

Dropped wrist

Generally the trade off is: + Dropped wrist -> a lower barrel line = Less muzzle flip + Dropped wrist -> less muscular effort to hold the sights level (providing your tendons don't stretch) - Dropped wrist gives a weaker grip and poorer trigger control. Personally I don't like a dropped wrist, its O...

Grips

There is the world famous Morini grip paste.

Otherwise car body filler, the flexible type. If you're lucky it will peel off oiled wood, which could be a disadvantage.

If you won't modify the Morinis, and I wouldn't, either get a third party set like KN or get some made.

Can you remember the website details?
I saw this also with 0.38 wadcutters but assumed I imagined it.

0.32

I don't see why 0.32ACP could not be made to shoot well, or maybe a rimless variant of 0.32 S+WL?

9mm is high pressure and relatively small powder volume for the size of bullet.

Pardini

Pardinis are not my personal preference as they are too nose heavy.
We also had one in our club which would not work with any ammunition, 0.32 SW+L was never intended for autos.

0.32 Match Pistols

This is an old thread, but I have a few questions which could answered thanks to the passage of time: - Does anyone have experience of the Tesro 0.32? - Why are Toz revolvers described as unforgiving? I guess a revolver with a clean break trigger, longer lock time than most Autos and a low velocity ...

Sticks and stones

For these purposes we are only interested in five round magazines.
A heel loading pistol will require a column from top to bottom of the grip.
A top loading pistol only requires space about halfway down the grip, allowing the grip to be cut in under the magazine.

Pellet weight

g = grams gr = grains, there being 7000 grains to the pound (I think...) The heavier the pellet the slower it goes. For absolute accuracy there will be different optimums for bullet weight and velocity for a given pistol. Generally people believe heavier = more stable and more accurate. Slower = mor...

Cleaning

Its much easier to damage a barrel through poor cleaning than lack of cleaning, in rimfire anyway. I reckon I wore out my FAS barrel through bad cleaning. Now I just use solvent and a nylon brush, followed by a very loose fitting patch. It is important to make sure no hard crud builds up in the cham...

Manuhrin

PS I have looked at them with a view to buying, the hammer spur and rearsight are very close, making cocking a bit of a chore.
Otherwise very nice, and the only readily available 0.32SW+L revolver.
