Re: How to know which grip size to get?

I find that the Anschütz medium grip (for the 20 series Precise stock) suits my hand. Here are my hand measurements: Width of palm: 9cm Length of palm (wrist to inside of middle finger knuckle): 10cm Trigger finger: 7cm Middle finger: 8cm Little finger: 6cm Thumb: 6cm Here it is in my hand: http://i...

Re: I was biting my tongue, but...

Actually, I get PMs from non-US countries discussing such topics and they are quite well-informed. I am glad to have my horizons expanded and relish the fellowship. Oh, don't get me wrong, I am following the US presidential elections pretty closely. While I'm based in Ireland I've worked for US com...

Re: I was biting my tongue, but...

I know you're all excited about your presidential election, but for the sake of the non-US readers here would you mind restraining yourselves from posting political stuff that has nothing to do with our sport?

Re: Finding NPA after each reload

This sometimes gets me into time pressure late in matches. It might be worth working on your timing as well as the above suggestions. In a final you have a maximum of 35 seconds from "... LOAD" to "STOP". Realistically, you want to have a solid shot routine that's comfortably un...

Re: Question about ISSF Clothing?

There isn't any difference in the rules they have to pass, but depending on how the jacket was cut you might have issues placing the buttons. If it's an off-the-peg model you'll probably be fine, but if it was made to measure for a particular woman then it will come down to her body shape and how ag...

Re: Bee sting tuner

I think anybody who says they have a formula for such a thing is selling snake oil. I've yet to see any real experiment that shows that anybody understands the WHY of tuners. Even the stuff I've seen on IF they work is empirical and not from an actual good experiment. http://www.geoffrey-kolbe.com/...

Re: Anschutz 54.30

Enjoy your new rifle! It's always fun to get something new to work with. :)

One note though, unless I'm very much mistaken your butt plate won't pass equipment control. I have a Gemini on my rifle too and I had to take out the middle segment of the top part of the hook to get it under the 25mm limit.

Re: 2020 Olympic to drop FR60PR

Not bad for an Irishman. ;-) I'm not sure I should take that from someone who faffs about playing dress-up all day long. :p More events? Not a hope in Hades. Sadly, I suspect you're right. It's such a waste. For all the effort that goes into getting TV time for shooting sports they'll be throwing a...

Re: 2020 Olympic to drop FR60PR

The Federations can not add events as the Games are already too big with too many athletes. So they must eliminate events. From what I've heard before the limiting factor on numbers is beds in the village, not number of events. Since multi-event shooting is already very common within the rifle even...

Re: Cut-out foam for rifle case?

Come across to shoot the Scottish 50m championships or the Grand Prix series next summer and you won't need to bring your own Megalinks :) I might do, if I can fit it in the calendar and find a sane way of getting there. I've looked at some of the Scottish competitions in the past, but unfortunatel...

Re: Cut-out foam for rifle case?

That looks very nicely done! However, it seems to me, that having to remove the buttplate, the buttplate carrier, the cheeckpiece, and the barrelled action (plus the sights, handstop, extension tube, etc), seems like a lot of work for transporting your rifle. All though you get away with using the ...

This is how mine is packed in a Peli 1700. It's the standard Peli non-pick-n-pluck foam. I just cut it carefully with a sharp knife.

Re: Bleiker on anschutz ALU?

For what it's worth, every price I've seen on US websites for ISSF stuff seems higher than expected. Usually by more than 20%. That would lead me to suspect import taxes and duties being the culprit. If you email Bleiker directly they should be able to let you know if they've done a direct sale to a...

Re: Bleiker on anschutz ALU?

I am considering switching my system, and I might lean towards the (expensive) bleikers. I have been told some accessoriers won't fit Bleiker and being a 3P shooter this might greatly increase costs if I have to get new hooks etc... plus one gets used to the stock... I do not see a lot of bleiker m...

Re: Why Shooting Jackets for Rifle but not Pistol?

I can only speak for our Club where we have a Rack or two of Jackets, Slings and a variety of Gloves which fit most. A mix of Rifles, left and Right handed to suit most from lighter ones for Juniors to ones more suited to seniors. Some of these came from retiring shooters who donated or sold to the...

Re: (The new??) ANSCHÜTZ Match 54.30

That picture is a little misleading. The KK500 does have an in-built rail that bridges the action. The model on show in Munich had an additional rail bolted on as a raiser block.

Apparently the action & stock combo is so shallow that a 4mm raiser is desirable even in prone.

Re: Why Shooting Jackets for Rifle but not Pistol?

I know there are those within the ISSF who are concerned about the cost that having all the gear imposes*, especially on new entrants to the sport (as opposed to those adding to existing kit) I feel that the cost argument is valid, but often a little overstated. If you're starting out and shooting ...
