Reduced target

To maintain uniformity of scores, I think it would require adjusting the scoring rings to suit the projectile diameter, but to maintain uniformity of sight picture, the bull (the black circle) should be reduced in direct proportion. The latter means that the diameter of the black would not likely co...

Width of pistols

All pistols that qualify for ISSF Sport Pistol, Standard Pistol, Center Fire Pistol, and Air Pistol must fit within a box that is no more than 50 millimeters deep, so the maximum width of such pistols will be not more than 50 mm (1.9685 inches). From observing "gun check" at ISSF matches, ...

SP20 vs 280

Yes, the SP20 does have a lower bore-line than the 280, so there is another contender.

Better than Hammerli?

I think we are all challenged by the short recovery time available between shots in the 4-second series. Some of us manage better than others of course (I'm not one of them, as my scores attest). Training and practice are paramount for mastering this stage. Nevertheless, the consensus seems to be th...

Damage to barrel?

Perhaps you could try pushing a cleaning patch through the bore (from the breech end to the muzzle end) with a close fitting plug on your cleaning rod and note whether it meets a change in resistance or snags on any lumps or burrs that might have been raised in the bore by the Allen key. If the patc...

Pardini GT45

Brian, If you plan to use the gun for IPSC also, be aware of a problem I had: The two magazines that came with my gun, worked fine. I then ordered three additional magazines (Pardini, not some third-party). None of the three new mags would hold the slide back after the last round. The magazine follo...

You might get a better response to your question at: http://www.lava.net/~perrone/bullseye Follow the links to the Bullseye-L Forum. That is the forum for NRA Conventional Pistol, which discipline does allow red-dot sights. I've never used one, but from extensive reading on the Bullseye-L forum, I b...

War

And no one caught me out on my error regarding the Conventional Pistol Rapid Fire match record. It is only 200-19X (not 20X). Still, that means that one target was 100-10X, so my argument is still sound.

Barrel position

Sparky wrote: "height of the axis of the bore over the hand has to do with perceived recoil and recovery for follow up shots. It has nothing to do with the accuracy of the guns in question" No argument from me there, Sparky. The point I am trying to make is that even with the longer recove...

Ear muffs

Two-way radio? I think it would be easy to spot a competitor trying to carry on a conversation (with his coach) when there was no one standing beside him to whom he would be speaking. As well, even ordinary ear muffs could be modified to receive radio transmissions, with no apparent change to the ex...

Trinity wrote: "I am not aware of any serious target pistol that holds the bolt open after the last shot." The Hammerli 208, the Unique DES 69, the Browning Medalist, the S&W Model 41, and the High Standard Citation (and Trophy) each hold the bolt open after the last shot. These are se...

Electronic earmuffs and ISSF rules

Okay, I've been thinking about this for a while and here is my take on the queston: Electronic earmuffs do not produce sound, they only serve to amplify existing sound . The sound already exists in the ambient air outside the earmuff for anyone else to hear. The circuitry of the earmuff raises the l...

use of electronic earmuffs in ISSF

David, Now I'm not trying to start a 'flame', but when you said "I would love to allow shooters to use electronic earmuffs, I believe that the ISSF intended them to be allowed", it seems to imply that you do not accept Franz Schreiber's reply to Philip Lee's inquiry as being sufficient jus...

Ruptured cases in MG2

Bobby, Do you get ruptured cases with more than one brand of ammunition? A while ago, one of the threads here on TT discussed a high incidence of case rupture with one particular brand of ammo (might even have been restricted to a particular lot number). I have not experienced such case failures wit...

Test of Hammerli 280

Well, I took my recent acquisition, the "early model" H280 in .32, to our indoor 20-yard range tonight. I fired the Precision stage of the ISSF Centre Fire course (six series of five shots). First series: The first shot was the highest in the group by about seven millimeters centre-to-cent...

Spencer, In response to your query: I'm thinking that there is quite a number of variables that go into the equation(s) that must be solved to give the position of the pellet/bullet on the virtual target. Each of these variables has an associated error of measurement. Additionally, certain assumptio...

H280

Interesting... The test target that came with my early model 280 has a cloverleaf group measuring approximately 0.25 inches centre-to-centre. Using a magnifier, I believe I can discern five shots in that group. So, has Hammerli "fudged" the test by shooting six shots and ignoring the first...

Is that "screw at the front" in addition to the one in the magazine well? My 280 has only the screw in the mag well, so is it the "earlier" version?
