Re: First Rifle Help -- Entering 10m Air Rifle at Mid-Twenti
What are your goals? To be a better marksman or to just blow off steam? Do you plan to shoot 10m? If you plan to compete, even at the club level, you'll need to spend some money. For less than a thousand bucks you can get a Hammerli AR20, Air Arms MPR and they will keep up with the FWB800 or other m...

Re: Question about fill adaptor
I recommend changing the whole valve.
I can't find a 346 to DIN adapter plus a DIN to yoke adapter for significantly less than just getting a DIN valve. But a yoke insert for a DIN valve is ten bucks, so you could get filled at nearly any dive shop.

Re: Federal Automatch and Ultramatch
I've had good luck with Federal Automatch from various rifles. Whether or not it will be good from your rifle is always an unknown, but it has worked very well in CZ, Zastava, Ruger, and Savage rifles. When the combination was good (CZ and Savage), an inch at 50 yards is pretty routine. When the com...

Re: Recoil and butt plate height
In the prone, with a sling, you have a basically two strong points of control on the rifle and two weak touch points. The sling attachment point, your firing hand grip (weak), your head on the cheek piece (weak) and where the butt meets your shoulder pocket. The firing hand should be able to complet...

Re: Daisy 853 front sight apertures
My opinion is worth all that you pay for it of course, but consider a front sight post and a 6 o'clock hold on the target for your son (I'm assuming sporter class because of the Daisy 853). It isn't what the pros use (pros aren't using Daisy either), but it is easy to teach for sporter air rifle, an...

Re: Daisy 853 losing pressure after about 30 shots
If it is a case of leakage due to heat, there is nothing to do but begin "diagnosis by replacement." Since both rifles do this, I'd say that the odds are that it is the same problem with both. Things I would try. On the assumption that you did the trigger mod, set the trigger to a higher t...

Well here is a dumb question, have you oiled them up lately? A lack of oil on the felt can cause erratic velocities and loss of velocity.

Without more information my best guess is the kid probably sees better out of his non-dominant eye right now.

I'd start here: http://www.chattanoogarifleclub.org/ Last time I was shooting in the Chattanooga area was an Appleseed event a few years back. Earned the "Rifleman" Patch with a bolt action 22 (232 out of 250 points possible on the scaled qual targets at 25), which shouldn't be a challenge...

Re: Pulse shooting technique
What follows is my opinion, worth all that you pay for it ;) It isn't something to worry about standing, simply being relaxed and focused will help you fall into a good rhythm and break the shot at the proper time. It is something to think about when using a sling, but if you have good form and are ...

Re: High NPA in standing
Changing your NPA means changing your stance, I know that sounds dumb but it's the truth.
For a shift of 7 inches, I'd start with the feet. Bringing you feet slightly closer together may help. If that gets you closer, then I'd try adjustments with the support hand.

I purchased three of these from here: http://www.schiesssport-buinger.de/shoo ... eight-80-g
the extra 240g behind the front sight really helped settle things down.

Re: Lower back tension in Offhand
Here are a few ideas. 1, wear a compression undershirt if you aren't already. The feedback on your skin can help your mind feel more connected to your body and so it won't need to tighten muscles to get that feedback. This is why baseball players wear long sleeve shirts, it lets them know where thei...

Re: Metrics to compare practice sessions and set practice go
Just my opinion, but scores and tens are still fine for metrics, but also start adding the lowest scored shots. So if she shoots a the same score, the one with fewer low score shots shows improvement. Say you have a 40 shot match, a score of 320 could be all eights, or half tens half sixes. So decre...

Re: Ear protection
For air rifle I use cheap foam ear plugs to help me focus. For high power, I use Howard Leight Impact Sport electronic earmuffs. Very convenient in the pits to hear the commands from the pitmaster. For work (qualifying with an M4) I use foam plugs. For zeroing a rifle or working up a load, then I do...

Re: How do you treat your 22LR ?
A. How often do you clean the bore on your 22LR Generally after firing for rifles I want to keep in top condition, or when the chamber starts to get "sticky" as the waxy buildup from the ammunition starts making feeding and extraction problematic. B. What solution/cleaner do you prefer? A...

Re: Offhand Advice Request
A lot of kids wear running shoes in sporter air rifle. The extra cushion on running shoes doesn't build a stable platform and makes the natural sway worse. If she is wearing running shoes, have her folks take her to Walmart and buy a cheap pair of "Faded Glory" canvas sneakers. http://www....

Re: Air Rifles
Tesro is a newer brand, hasn't yet made inroads into the US, but you can get them in Canada. I know that Steyr imports have been wonky in the past, have no clue how they are now. Honestly if you want a Tesro, buying from Canada when the exchange rate is favorable would be a nice discount, if such is...

Re: Opinions on best smallbore rifle
From a rest, all the smallbore rifles are equally good, for all intents and purposes. From the shoulder, it's a different story. Different geometry makes a difference. Different points of balance make a difference. Sometimes those differences are hard to describe :P If your Walther air rifle is work...
