When shooting goes from good, to less good, start to analyze each shot. A simple method is a chart for Hold, Trigger, Mental, Follow thru.
Shoot 10-20 shots and put a + or - under each heading for each shot. A pattern will appear so you will know what to work on.

Re: Cleaning lead dust ?
Cleaned hand with soap again. Like 5 times. Then took a bath - with soap again. Again cleaned the hand - 2 times. Good, but probably overkill. If you are very concerned you may want to get some lead removing soap (check online or with a local stained glass shop). Using a mask is only effective IF i...

Re: Differences with Anschutz rifles
You might also look for a 1907 in a 1912 stock. Several of our smaller junior shooters did well with these (I even got to like it better than my 1413 as I aged and my long time back problems got worse). About 10.5 pounds with good adjustments on the stock (IF it still meets the rules).

Re: Can anything be done to 46M dry fire?
This is what I have always done, with no damage to the gun. Just a little noise when air is released.46M manual suggests that you should dry fire "exactly as live fire, but without the pellet

Re: Setting Goals
Lots of nice "wishes" here, but all lack one thing to turn them into goals. A date by which they should be accomplished.
Goals need to be Simple, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time constrained (SMART). Without the time constraint they are just "someday" wishes.

Re: Surviving muzzle brakes at the range?
Try to stay straight behind the rifle with brakes, either by moving your work station or asking the shooters to relocate more to your front.
If not possible, time to pack up until they finish.

Re: Looking back at the Olympics
My perception is that the IOC see themselves as acting to promote participation, which includes acting against those gender barriers. Your perception may have some validity today, but you have to understand the history that lead to separate women's shooting event that began in 1976 when Silver Meda...

Re: sudden large changes in point of impact
Until recently, I mounted the butt, hoiked it up until the hook engaged, and used that as the position. But I thought that it then tended to slip down during the card. Are you shooting the card with only one "mounting" of the rifle, and loading with the rifle in place? I had a few shooter...

Re: Qualification then Finals Format? (spoiler alert)
Something about the format rubs me wrong. It just seems wrong that someone can do well for 60 shots, then lose to someone in a final that's a max of 20 shots, depending on how far you advance. They ALL shot 60 shots which each averaged from 9.6 to 9.7, pretty similar as far as I am concerned. The b...

You are right. Attached are a couple of PDFs from a few years back, which have a similar explanation.

Re: Puzzle with book authors and copyright laws
Nope. 400 gon, or gradian, circles are used in some places, but there is NO 400 degree circle. A gon, or grad (gradian,) is 9/10 of a degree. The use of a 400 degree circles is fairly common.

Re: Aluminum pellets
I heard somewhere the 'low lead' has 5x the amount of lead even the highest auto gas ever had. Aviation gas (100Low Lead) has .56 grams per liter. In 1972 the regular gasoline for autos had 2 grams per gallon (or about 1 gram per Liter). Keep pellets out of your mouth, and wash up after shooting, a...

Recheck your eye dominance. It can change, especially when their is a physical problem with one eye. It may be that brent375hh is correct, and you were looking with the best eye.

Re: Left hand shooter/right hand rifle
I've had several over the years. Be sure he is shooting with his dominant eye, and if that is the left one fine. No big problems reaching over to cycle the bolt and reload. Since everything is slow fire, there is plenty of time. Could even look at it as a positive, as that forces a check and possibl...

Yes, but the horizontal change from left to right columns is much larger. Over time my shooters preferred the extra small change. Try both to see what you like.

Re: Target Sequence
I taught our juniors to make as few, and as small, position changes as possible. After the sighter, top center, then left top and down the column, across the bottom, then up the right side. The horizontal changes are more difficult, but limited to three. Be sure not to "cheat" on the verit...

Re: Shooting Pants and Shoes
The pants will help as much as, if not more than, the jacket. Advantage of the boots is the flat sole, so your very do not rock (but you can start with a cheap pair of court shoes which are flat bottomed and go to actual shooting boots when you get to matches with equipment checks. Whatever you do, ...

Re: Air Gun Cleaning
Barrels seldom need to be cleaned. You could use a pull through with a patch after every tin of pellets (NO petroleum distillate based solvents). I use a squirt of TSI301, then a dry patch.
