Spencer,
The NRA 50 yard A-23/5 target is 'bigger' than the ISSF A-51 in that is about the same size black but has larger scoring rings
I have attached both targets for comparison.
Regards,
Hap

Transporting Rifle with Sights
I, and almost everyone I know, always remove sights when transporting arifle. There is a slight chance that a hard impact, if the case is dropped or mishandled in some way, will shear off the sights. Any good set of sights is easily returned to zero when mounted and a few sighters will solve any oth...

CMJ,
The blocks on my rifle, an Anschutz 1810, are 7.5 inches apart, center to center. Both blocks are mounted on the barrel with the action side edge of of the block closest to the action 0.5 inch from the action.
I am no gunsmith, but it works for me.

Hap

Ralph, Backers are also used to confirm the number of hits and, to assign value where there are multiple shots in one hole. Ron, Try Science Kit or Fisher Scientific-they have web sites. Ohaus makes the following for about $112, which I use. I like the portability and they 'gave' me the first set of batteries. Full disclosure statement: I have no fiduciary interest in any of these companies. Hap From the Science Kit Webs...

Metric
Nicole,
Not to worry.
Having taught high school physics for 25 years I am still amazed at how I had to fight with kids to come to grips with fractional factoring/unit analysis for conversions and the ease of the metric system.
By the way, I have enjoyed your posts.

Jack, If the price is right and the condition is good there is nothing wrong with starting with it. I still use my circa 1975 1413 action in my prone rifle. You will need a butt hook but the palm rest is a matter of choice and few people that I know use the grip shelf. All of the parts can be found ...

Jose, Perhaps we are stuck with the English System because we speak English? The United States is, as far as measument is concerned, 230 years of tradition unhampered by progress or the thought process. Let's face it, in general the only interest the American public has in the Metric System is 9mm. ...

22 Match Ammo
The riflemen in the Pheonix area have been reporting excellent results with Wolf Match Extra and SK Match. They have an extensive thread about it on Shooters Journal. The best name brand ammo has become so expensive that some have taken to buying the new model Anschutz and three or four custom barre...

Michael, Ther are four smallbore winter leagues, two or three summer smallbore leagues, one high power league, and a good year round match schedule. However there are no air gun leagues. About the only airgun fired is at Blue Trail range (203-269-3280). I know this is not much help, but I hope it po...

I Don't Think Bullseye Subjects Belong on This Site
Shooting is shooting.
There is nothing wrong with a little cross pollination as we can both learn from each other. Many of us shoot both bullseye and international and if I can learn something from one discipline which will help me in the other I am all for it.
