From Bill Carter, Smallbore Committee Chair, to the smallbore community Ladies and Gentlemen: This past Tuesday I was informed that a decision has been made by NRAHQ to temporarily relocate the NRA National Championship Smallbore 3-P and Prone from Camp Perry, Ohio to Bristol, Indiana in 2014 and 20...

Eley Edge
I just completed a test; 16 five shot groups at 50 yards and the same number of ten shot groups at 100 yards. Rifle was an Anschutz with factory barrel and Leupold Vari X III scope with the groups shot off of the shoulder. The ammunition will consistently hold the ten ring at both distances, average...

It looks like an Elite rear sight.
As a rule sights do not come with the rifle when purchased new, they have to be purchased in addition to the rifle at additional cost.
Therefore there is no "original" sight set. Any sight purchase is "after market".

Pershing match Location
Tim, The Pershing will be shot in the center of the prone smallbore line around the point that separates Young and Rodriguez Ranges. If the Canadians attend we will need three blocks of ten targets with additional space in between teams-perhaps a total of 40 or 50 points in total. Petrarca Range wou...

How much money do pro shooters make?
Colleagues,
I have been shooting smallbore and high power rifle since 1961. After over a half century of participation in this sport I have, at long last, found the simple secret to making a small fortune in competitive shooting: start with a large fortune.

Smallbore Accuracy
Of the many shooting disciplines there are two that have a remarkable similarity yet are miles apart philosophically. I speak of smallbore bench rest and smallbore prone shooting. This tidbit was brought to mind by a passage I read recently in a book about Ernest Hemingway by Terry Mort entitled The...

Josh Olson-Paralympic Athlete
Josh Olson shot a 595X600 to finish in 28th place in the Mixed R3-10m Air Rifle Prone-SH1 competition at the 2012 Paralympics in London. In a conversation at Camp Perry in late July Olsen spoke of just how difficult this event can be to win. To that point the top eight finishers at the Paralympics a...

To add to what has all ready been said a scope is a poor man's electronic trainer. By using a low powered scope, 10X to 20X, in holding practice you can get a very good idea of your area of wobble, the duration of your steadiest hold, and motion caused by your hand or trigger finger as you release t...
