One could do that too I suppose Jerber, if they can look past the rings. I know that, for me personally, that is damn-near impossible. If there are rings, I start tallying the score ... can't help myself.
Without scoring rings, it's obviously not an issue.

This pinned post needs to be removed and replaced with one that has functioning screenshots, and references an existing image host site ... the one given as the OP's choice is 404.

Re: Change of forum name?
BTW: I will make a donation to the TT efforts if this forum name is changed to ISSF Pistol, International Pistol, or something along those lines ... Seriously.

That black dot at 50m ....
I'm wondering if anyone else uses practice targets that have no scoring rings. I started doing this many years ago, to stop focusing on scoring and instead focus on performance. I simply cut the exact size of the target's bull (the black section) out of a sheet of cardboard, and used the remaining p...

Change of forum name?
Out of respect for the dearly departed Free Pistol from the Olympics after 120 years, perhaps changing the forum name to "International Pistol" or "ISSF Pistol" would be more correct? Just a thought.

Re: Geko and SK "Match" .22 Ammo
Sorry, my mistake. It was the SK Standard Plus that was five and change ($5.38/50 actually) ... The SK Pistol Match was $6.38/50 shipped (both based on purchasing two bricks).

Re: Geko and SK "Match" .22 Ammo
So, put this in the "Reasons to Clean & Organize the Safes" file: I had a chance today to empty one of the safes (the one that I store ammo in), and on the bottom shelf, behind some other crap, I found two bricks of the Aguilar Pistol Match Competition I had totally forgotten about! So...

Geko and SK "Match" .22 Ammo
I have been burning through my old bricks of Wolf Match and Aguila Match that I picked up years ago—partly because it's getting a little long in the tooth (the Wolf Match was purchased in 2002 or '03)—but due in large part to the fact that I am FINALLY back to enjoying the time to get out on the ran...

Re: Hämmerli 150 Dry Fire Question
Yess'r, that is indeed the case. I had always saved some fired cases from previous range trips, and have put one in the chamber for the initial pin strike. After that it is just setting the trigger, and dry firing away. Speaking of which ~ I did a little math to come up with a scale target to set up...

Re: Hämmerli 150 Dry Fire Question
Yeah, it was/is my understanding that the action lever opens the breech and sets the firing pin, whereas the trigger set lever operates independently of the firing pin. But, maybe I've been wrong about that all these years ...

Hämmerli 150 Dry Fire Question
To those more in the know: I was always under the impression that one could safely dry fire the 150 by simply setting the trigger and releasing it. Is there something I've missed in its care and feeding? Or perhaps this chap was simply talking about having a snap or spent case in the chamber for the...

Re: Free Pistol Shooting in the Upstate (SC)
I would definitely be into trying to set up an informal 10m match or two over the winter here ... If a proper "range" can be found. I have a couple of pellet traps, but an indoor spot I don't. Though, with all of the massive storage facilities and such hereabouts one would think finding a ...

Re: Non-aiming eye....current school of thought?
Many moons ago—as in, the mid-'80s—I decided to try a translucent blinder on my non-dominant eye. This, after years of using a black blinder for that purpose. I couldn't find one locally, and being that I was (and am) a Scot, decided that I would MacGyver something instead. So I took a pair of sciss...

Re: Free Pistol Shooting in the Upstate (SC)
Hey again Jim, We had a quick correspondence about this same thing a couple of years ago, but since then my wife and I bought another house and renovated it ... So I am literally at EXACTLY the same position as I was then! Anywho, I think I am going to try to float the idea of an informal, non-sanct...

Free Pistol Shooting in the Upstate (SC)
Any Free Pistol shooters on TT located in the Upstate region of the Palmetto State? I recently joined the Belton Gun Club, and am going to pull the old Free Pistol out of the safe to dust it off, and begin informal shooting practice on a regular basis. BGC has a covered firing line with the 50m dist...

Yeah, makes sense. World Cup Finals hardly qualify as an "informal AP match" though.

I watched this earlier, before I saw this thread. I kept thinking, "Too bad he is the only one not wearing a national shirt."
