Re: Simulating nerves in training
Most answers seem to focus on (1) relax while in competition. I agree in the sense that this should be the end goal, but to get there, I think there is value in (2) Simulating "the nerves" in training. One way of adding pressure to your training is this one: https://www.sport-shooters-ots....

LG400: how to set the trigger ("let-off point")
Recently I noted that the trigger of my LG400 ('normal', not electronic trigger) had quite a bit of creep. So out comes the hex key, out comes the user manual... With the trigger cocked, you're supposed to turn a screw ("e" ) clockwise until the striker is released. And then turn it back b...

Walther LG400-E vs LG400
What is the main advantage of the electronic trigger?
Trigger pull weight can be reduced to 15 g instead of 50 g. If I don't fancy that, are there other reasons I should consider the E?

Re: standing balance eyes
What I am wondering is does perception from the non shooting eye have an affect on balance and therefore should I get a correcting lens for it too? My experiments with contact lenses seem to suggest yes. Vision helps in keeping balance. (if you doubt that, stand on one leg for a minute and compare ...

When selecting pellets, I've noticed that my V0 increases from about 165 m/s (200 bar) to 170 m/s (pressure dropping below 100 bar). Yes, that's right: higher pressure yields lower V0. Some ballistic calculations show that this causes my pellets to end up 1.1 mm higher on a nearly empty cylinder com...

ANSCHÜTZ Air rifle model 8002 S2 Compressed Air (Hardwood):
Any (well-informed, evidence-based) opinions out there on this Anschutz AR?
Would you recommend it for someone who's just getting started in this sport?
Or do you see better alternatives in the same price range?

Q on ISSF Rule 7.4.2.6 Weights
"7.4.2.6 Weights
...· Any other weights must be within the dimensions of the
stock. "
I've read this at least 10 times. Who can explain to me what this means?

Jeroen: As a matter of interest, of the two 10 shot groups, how many times was the first group bigger than the second??? I just bet my house I think...... (Sorry I missed your question earlier, Ross). The second 10-shot group was smaller than the first 10-shot group in 12 out of 19 batches (63%). W...

Grzegorz, thanks for sharing your approach, and the scan. Actually, I made such scans of my air rifle targets myself as well recently. Only, instead of PSE, I used a Matlab programme to measure the 'hole' (internal surface only, in your terminology). See an example below: left = original scan; middl...

*** Warning: statistical content ahead *** In my latest Quest for the Perfect Pellet, I tested 19 different batches from 1 vendor. For each batch, I did 2 groups of 10 shots. One rifle (Haemmerli AR50), and simultaneously measured V0 (which was pretty constant, typically the fastest and slowest of 1...

Pellet testing, first and second group: truth or myth?
Truth or myth…? I’ve heard the following advice when testing pellets for air rifle. “For each new batch you test, you need to ’break in’ the new batch for your barrel. So the first group of 10 shots is just for that. The second group of 10 shots will typically be smaller. Use that one in your decisi...

Get the base capacity up and then add activity-specific training to point that capacity in a specific direction (like a pyramid) So, what training methods do we have to get the base capacity up? And of course, it's evidence-based methods that we're looking for, not merely belief-based :-) Slackline...

Photos on equipment & positions?
(On behalf of my son, who is working on a school project on shooting sports: ) Would you know some nice pictures on there on the internet that give a good impression on the equipment we use and the way we use it? I'm looking for stuff that expresses SPORTS as the main message - not 'weapons'. I did ...

1/10th?
Re the original post - with 1/10 ring being 0.25mm at 10m (or 0.8mm at 50m) - this seems remarkable. It's not so much about seeing a detail of 0.25 mm at 10 m. Rather, it's about judging the alignment of sights and the visual. That's a trick we are pretty good at. Similar to Vernier acuity . Can yo...
