Close your eyes
Like some of the other repliers, I'm wondering if it's about your NPA. You might try this exersise: Build your position as you normally do, including all the checks and minor corrections, up to the point where you start the final alignment & shot release part. Here, close your eyes. Count 1-2-3-...

Count Not
What I currently do (air rifle match, 1 shot per target, that's your main question, right?): As I return the target to me, I have a quick look when it's still 8-7-6 m away from me. Enough to see roughly where the shot landed, thus giving me the information I might need for corrections. But when it g...

Measuring accuracy
Shooting Kiwi,
How would you measuer the pellet diameter if you need to measure @ 0.01 mm accuracy?

You could try www.chairgun.com
You can get some idea by using the software programme Chairgun (www.chairgun.com). (can be run for free). Under 'Extras', there's a "Bottle Charging" applet. After you entered your data (pressures and volumes), this will show the number of fills you can get. Including a list showing what p...

E=0.5*m*v^2
E = 0.5 * m * v ^2 where E = energy [Joules] m = mass [kg] v = velocity [m/s] and "^2" denotes square (i.e. v^2 = v*v) So with a pellet of 0.53 grams = 0.00053 kg, (e.g. RWS R10) and a velocity of 170 m/s, you get E = 7.66 joules: just a little bit above the famous 7.5. But where to measur...

Raiser blocks & cant
Its worth remembering that the higher you go the more chances of error especially if you use cant. Well... I'm not sure what kind of error you mean. What I _do_ know is this: (1) if you vary the cant angle between shots, this will influence the Point of Impact on your target; (2) this effect is NOT...

... So to see if i have this clear,in order to fit the riiffle in my measurments,i can raise the fore sight up to 60mm(centre to centre)and the rear sight up to 64mm? You can raise the fore sight until you have 60 mm centre-centre (although I'd keep it a little smaller to avoid discussions when the...

Re: accuracy
On a bad day, yes. On some days it won't make a difference. But on most days, better ammo will give you a better score. See my post from yesterday, 4 posts up in this topic (posted Aug 22, 2007 12:38 pm).Richard H wrote:Or it could be giving you 2 points, so your 569 might actually be a 567 with better ammo.

accuracy
I agree that the quest for ideal should remain reasonable with respect to what the person on the trigger can do with it. Still, for guys like me mostly not breaking 570 in AR, it IS something to consider. If I settle for ammo with an avg shot group diameter of 6.5 mm (outer-outer, in 10-shot groups ...

For ordinary shooters like me, it isn't that critical, although I did lose the iron aggregate at the State Prone Championship by a plugger. Had more X's, one point behind the winner. Would better ammo have helped ? Depending on where I broke the shot, might have made matters worse. Tim, On average,...

Thanks, Nicole and Albert. I found that little shock wave through the target seen from the rear quite fascinating myself. To satisfy the engineering type of questions... I did these with the rifle fixed in a clamp, in a totally dark room, with a DSLR camera on a tripod, with the lense wide open for ...

Happy with my AR50
I bought an AR50 alu several years ago, and on balance am very pleased with it. It simply fits me. Period. I've tried several alternatives back then and also more recently, and have not been tempted to change to an alternative. I did encouter two problems (which is not unique for Haemmerli - before ...

Canting
When cant gives you a better position, DO IT! Yes, you need to have the same cant angle every time, but that's equally true when you shoot uncanted. In the latter case, always try to keep the angle 0 degr. In your case, always try to keep the angle 10 degr. Yes, you can use level bars and so on. But...
