Air pistol accuracy testing
So I just picked up a nice K12 AP. Now, I'm looking to test her out with different pellets to see what she likes best. First, are there any distributors that have testing lots, or samples from lots for me to test? I'd like to find some batches to run through before I commit to buying a lot, but I ha...

Re: American Intl Pistol
Yes, but some of us don't care about the money. I mean, yeah, it's great, but I like precious medals. No, I didn't spell that wrong. I've been shooting NRA Conventional Pistol for a while. The air of competition isn't there. I equate it to beer league. No, I have never won a national title, but I do...

Re: American Intl Pistol
md123180, you are quite right - patience and respect for practice are in short supply. I know someone who worked at Bud's Gun Shop call center and he was just telling me about how many calls he got from people who were upset that their new gun was not very accurate. By their standard, the first .45...

Re: American Intl Pistol
Here's my two cents: First off, our national pistol program isn't what it needs to be. That's no fault of USAS, because they're trying hard to bring more shooters to the sport. The problems stem from a lack of participation in our country. People don't want to spend $2-3k on a pistol, then have to t...

Re: Keeping Calm
^ that is good advise except I can't see your diet and caffeine making hardly any difference untill you are shooting 570s on comp and trying to shoot 580s. I drink heaps of caffeine. I shot a practice match last week while drinking a coffee and shot 578. Last year I decided to give up drinking caff...

Re: Keeping Calm
Here's a few thoughts: 1. Make sure you warm up/stretch before you shoot. I'm not talking calisthenics, but stretch out. This is especially true of your hand/arm. 2. I haven't seen anything, but are you eating before or after you shoot? Either way, you may want to look at if you're hungry (if you ha...

If you are running a dot on your 45 couldn't you mount the sensor on the dot using the universal mount (strap)? That's a pretty damn good idea. I'm curious how much it would add to slide mass, but I can't imagine it would be enough to throw off timing. That may work. Thanks! The other issue is that...

If not, maybe devise an extended recoil spring guide rod that protrudes out the front? Not sure how well that would work, though, since I can't remember how stationary that is in a 1911. It's not stationary enough to keep the sensor in exact alignment for each shot. Yeah, there are no accessory rai...

Scatt for... *gulp* 1911???
Ok, so I decided to post here because I don't see much activity in the Bullseye forum when I search for Scatt... I'm about to purchase a Scatt MX-02 for my team so that I can do dry/live fire practice with them. Predominantly, we are a bullseye team. I would like to be able to mount this system to o...

It's not so much practice but effective training that matters. Most successful shooters are full time shooting athletes so that will give you a pointer. I'd suggest first step is to find a good coach. Rob. I second this wholeheartedly. Practice is what keeps your skills, training is what improves t...

Who has onus over AP Matches, etc?
Ok, so in my research before I jump into the sport, I'm looking around to find the organization that runs the 10m Air Pistol events, as that's what I'm looking at getting into. However, I'm finding nothing much on the NRA matches site, and CMP only lists air rifle. I see things that fall under USAS,...

Wow, thanks for all the input! I will likely be attending that match on the 1st, and talk to some of the shooters as well as just doing a sight count of what's on the line and in my price range. I'll also probably talk to them to see if they either know someone getting out of the sport, or someone t...

Well, cost does pose an issue at some point. I have to actually get into the sport first. I can say that if I can post up respectable scores with a $500 pistol, I can post them up with a $2k pistol as well, I just have to re-learn a couple things. I would say $1k for my first pistol is a little extr...

How do you like the IZH 46 in comparison to the 747? The 747 is the only AP that I have any experience with, and even when I shot it, I wasn't quite interested in the sport. Thusly, I don't remember anything remarkable about it. However, after reading reviews, it seems Daisy has replaced a lot of pa...

CF Pistol to 10m AP
Ok, guys. This is my first post to the forum, so if I omit any specific conventions, I apologize in advance. I'm currently a competitive .45 / 9mm bullseye shooter, but looking to augment my skills with some 10m AP competition. Mostly, it's because I need some trigger work, and the AP REALLY brings ...
