Re: SCATT data interpretation & usage links

Lester... First, thanks to Joel for the kind words! Maybe I will do the SCATT clinic again sometime. I need to spend time learning the new software. With my daughter in college now, I don’t get much opportunity to work with scatt. I thought I answered your question yesterday about the sound delay. A...

Re: SCATT data interpretation & usage links

ptf18, Yes, the F coefficient setting will change where the projected bullet impact is. The higher the F/C, the further away the bullet impact is from where the trigger broke. During live fire with scatt, I have found a setting of around 10 gives me scatt groups that are reasonably close to real wor...

Re: New ISSF Rules - Partial Summary

Invest in a $159 bench top belt sander and a good supply of 80 grit belts! Maybe not the best solution, but better than scrapping perfectly good airguns.

Re: New ISSF Rules - Partial Summary

I know, and yes I am being a bit of a cynic as well.

However... Read the proposed rule. Then, keep in mind it is ALREADY illegal to have weights or other devices that project downward or laterally outside the normal dimensions of the stock. So, what is the purpose of the new rule?

Re: New ISSF Rules - Partial Summary

Can I just remind everyone that what Gary Anderson sent was really just a precis of what he expects in the new rules. I'm sure it wasn't intended to be the exact wording. I sometimes get the impression that he's damned if he does and he's damned if he doesn't. I certainly appreciate Gary and others...

Re: New ISSF Rules - Partial Summary

http://vc4hss.com/_2016_Info/160916_Taped_Weights.jpg To summarize: Yes, this is legal if the tape is basically invisible. With best regards, Gary Gary Anderson gary.anderson@issf-sports.org So... Since the weights are taped (excuse me, "attached") to the TOP of the stock behind the grip,...

Re: ISSF World Cup Prone - Clapping during Final Shots

I was there at Suhl a couple of years ago, it was exactly the same as you describe. It is encouraging to see others begin to point out that the noise in the finals has gotten completely obnoxious. Earlier in this thread I made my comments so I will not repeat them again. As "methosb" point...

Re: ISSF World Cup Prone - Clapping during Final Shots

What will it take to make a change here? I'm such a cynic that I can only see things like this changing when it begins to cost the venues too much money to continue and they (not the athletes & coaches) push back onto the ISSF. Here's the ISSF's email. Maybe if they hear enough from people how ...

Re: ISSF World Cup Prone - Clapping during Final Shots

I expect you are right that the SFZ final is here to stay. I would have no objection if it was a full match. For the 100 meter sprint is the final round a 40 meter sprint?? Do they reach out and grab the last place person off the track every few meters? Nope, they run a full 100 meters. Often that p...

Re: ISSF World Cup Prone - Clapping during Final Shots

I certainly agree with you Joel, the current rules / environment is the way things are right now. Yep, we train for the noise and the SFZ final. It's the way the game is played, so you have to train for the way it is, not the way you want it to be. I just don't think the noise adds anything to the s...

Re: ISSF World Cup Prone - Clapping during Final Shots

On the other hand the spectator clapping comes from the athletes themselves. Vast majority of the spectators are the athletes, coaches and other personnel. So these guys should know better, but if they still do it, that means they themselves don't mind. Finally, mental toughness is such a big part ...

Re: ISSF World Cup Prone - Clapping during Final Shots

I have voiced my opinion before, here it is once more! Making noise during the finals and the start from zero final are destructive to the sport. Question: How does having a crowd 15 feet behind the shooters, yelling, clapping, blowing horns, etc. help determine who the best shooter is? Do they do t...

Re: cross eye dominate

One other suggestion on the blinder. Rather than a blinder on the sight, use a pair of shooting glasses and a blinder on the glasses. This places the blinder much closer to the eye. It may (or may not) help to have the blinder closer, but is worth a try. That is how Elizabeth shoots now, glasses wit...

Re: SCATT data interpretation & usage links

bdutton, I think its a bad idea to use scatt to shoot for score. I completely agree with redschietti on this. At best, SCATT is still a "simulated" electronic score, so any score shown on SCATT is just that..... "simulated". I understand some shooters may have limited opportunit...

Re: ISSF World Cup @ FT Benning

My daughter participated in the Ft Benning World Cup and had her sweater tested pre-competition. A standard KT sweater with a VERY thin Under Armour T shirt underneath would not pass. She was one of the ladies who were down to their bra underneath her shooting sweater. The problem area was the ribbe...

Re: Junior Air Rifles

The Pardini air rifle is also worth looking at. It is not a junior rifle, but it's design allows it to be adjusted as short as Jr guns. With it, you would not need to change rifles as she grows in size and skill.

Re: Mega link versus suis electronic targets

I should have mentioned service / support in my review. While I have really not had any issues with either one (other than operator error), Megalink gets high marks for support. Richard answers his cell phone and returns emails promptly. Could not ask for better service.

Re: Mega link versus suis electronic targets

We have both Megalink and Sius at our range. We have had the Megalink targets (4 of them) for almost two years now. The one Sius for just a couple of months. Megalink: We use the targets for 10M air rifle, 50ft smallbore and 50M smallbore. Our targets have the lift mechanisms like most of the colleg...

Re: Bleiker and Grünig versus Anschütz

Bleiker is starting to catch on a little here in the US. I think there may be one US shooter using a Grunig, seem to remember seeing one at Junior Olympics last year. I think there is a Canadian lady shooting one as well. As for the reasons you don't see many, speaking mainly about Bleiker now... In...

Re: loading in position in standing

Anyway do you find that loading in position helps with the overall speed of shooting? I guess for those shots that she is not breaking position for there is an advantage in less steps in the shot process? What about shot rejection and the processes that entails? Sorry for all the questions but it i...
