I had an experience which gives me some understanding of what Darticus is talking about. A few years ago I used a borrowed free pistol, wound the sights the wrong way, the screw and spring came out and I was in a muddle. Being still in my sighting series, I fired 2-3 shots but couldn't see where the...

OK guys, back to the thread. I followed David's advice, closed up the gap on my bucket sights and guess what? I could move my sights to the right as desired. Fired a 554 in competition last night, aiming for a trip into the 560s next week now I have the sights worked out again. As for the guys sugge...

Thanks David I recalled that Steve's piece was one where it was a bit of trial and error involved and chasing those springy bits around the room. Will try closing the gap tonight and seeing if I can get a few more clicks to the right. Either that or I'll have to relocate my right eyeball. Not sure I...

Morini rear sight - No more adjustment

OK here is one for the more technical savvy among you. My Morini 162E has no more adjustment. I have the sights wound across as far as possible to the right and still the gun groups in the nine ring at nine o'clock. The only way I am making do is to aim a bit to the right. Is there any other adjustm...

Popular way to blacken sights is to have a small piece of parafin wax in an old pistol pellet tin. Light the parrafin, wave the sights over the dense black smoke and pop the lid back on to extinguish until next time. Another I saw many years ago was lighting a piece of bicycle tube rubber, blackenin...

While I use shooting glasses with an opaque occluder shielding the non-shooting eye, I often discover to my surprise that after a break I have forgotten to lower the occluder and have been shooting with both eyes open. It seems that the brain has become used to switching off the image from the left ...

Yana, I have found an electric iron is an ideal weight. While you are training you can iron your clothes as well. After each shirt just lift the iron with your arms straight a couple of times and then go onto the next item to iron.
Now that I have you in the mood - do you take in ironing??

Hi Brenton Where do you live? I have found a DES 69U virtually unused at a gundealer. It belonged to a collector and is still in original case and cardboard box. Contact me and I'll give you the heads up. Probably wants about $800 for it. If you join the forum instead of being a guest you will be ab...

By the way Brenton, I know where there is a Unique DES 2000 which I don't think has ever been fired. I don't the firearm dealer will ever be able to sell it until it becomes a collector item.
He did have a 69U in similar condition but that's gone.

Brenton It might be worthwhile checking on a few club notice boards. I regularly see DES 69 or 69U for sale on such boards. I am from a small club but I know of three such pistols sold in the past couple of years. I had one which I kept as a back-up gun but never used it, so eventually sold it to a ...

Keith Anderson in Sydney. As far as I know he handles all IZH-35Ms coming into Australia. His company name escapes me but I am sure that if you did an internet search you would come up with it. Gte back to me if you have no luck.

I think a member of our club (Traralgon) had left and right hand grips for a Unique. He'll never use the LH grip and may be willing to part. I will check to see if he still has it. Will advise here.
I live in Sale so can easily deliver to you.

I rang our importer and he sent me a new magazine and a whole stack of spares for about $30 Australian. It appears new magazines are readily available. I have never touched the spare but it is comfort knowing that I have it, should either of the two mags which came with my IZZY decide to play up.

Check your firing pin. It is probably broken.
It is a common problem with the Uniques and can be quickly and replaced, even by a novice.

Interesting that the photo posted is from a rapidfire event and not a precision event. What happens to that hanging arm when the upper part of the body twists as the shooting arm aligns with each target? If you analyse the twisting movement used for rapidfire, you will note that the twist begins wit...

Consistency is important and while I prefer to hold my belt buckle, I can see that letting the arm hand free will provide the consistency. The problem with putting the hand in the pocket is that unless you wear the same pair of pants every time you shoot, the pocket can be at a different height or p...

Quite OK to use a semi automatic standard pistol in a free pistol event. You are free to use anything which fires .22 long rifle standard velocity ammunition. Only proviso is that you load it one at a time.
You used to be able to use .22 shorts but those days have gone.

Hi Alex After all these years of shooting, why would you want to put a compensator on your Hammerli? Is it going to improve your scores? Probably not. Will it make your pistol more saleable when the debilitations of age finally make you give up the sport you love? Possibly. Will you have a better lo...
