Read up Bluechucky
I'll meet you at the firing line someday and we'll see who has digested the information the best.
I identified another of the Boys from Oz at the MISC Open in Melbourne a couple of weeks ago.

The NRA in the USA had only six copies of Competitive Shooting by A. Yur'yev left when I enquired earlier this year. There are a few copies floating around secondhand via the internet. I managed to pick up a hardback version here in Australia for around $A50, including shipping costs. The NRA indica...

Then again Steve, there could be something in it. Since I got a Morini Short 10 months ago to replace my old FWB Model 80 I have struggled to maintain my previous average scores. I have been thinking of adding some weight to the Morini, which is extremely light, to see if it makes a difference. I li...

What were you doing looking at the pellet? If you had been concentrating on the front sight, you would not have noticed the pellet heading out of the black. Also, if you had been watching the front sight you would have realised that you had had accidentally let it stray too far to one side of the re...

I am a bit confused when you talk of trigger weights being so low. In Australia we shoot a 25m match called standard pistol and the minimum weight is 1000g. It seems most .22 semi autos operate best around that trigger weight. What matches do you shoot which allows trigger weights approaching air pi...

Thanks Steve, I agree that concentrating on the front sight is vital but I believe that before you get to that you have to go through a process of how many steps you might want to think out. Initially it may seem cumbersome but eventually the subconscious takes over and these steps become automatic....

Guest, you sure have a lot to say for someone not willing to log on as a member.
If it was all as simple as concentrating on the front sight, we'd all be scoring 590 plus

Only thing that worries me about leaning forward with the arm and shoulder locked is that the head must move before the first shot. I was taught that is important to keep the noodle still because if you move it, all the fluid in the grey matter is still swirling for 2-3 seconds afterwards, which aff...

Bluechucky, Benonymous wrote of his 14 step plan before executing his shot. I suggest it be expanded out to more like 25 steps. Try this: 1. Get stance right 2. Get the grip right 3. Load the pellet/magazine etc. 4. Focus on what you are about to do 5. Settle the body, lower shoulders (sag, if you l...

Exactly. Thinking too much can hinder your performance. When shooting the 4 second string in rapidfire do you actually consciously watch your sights and think about your trigger.

Just shoot and let the force be with you. Hire an old Star Wars movie and see what I mean.

"We don't use any oil. We have a transparent film that attaches to the surface. If you want to use oil you can use linen oil" OK, I'll be silly enough to ask the obvious. What is linen oil? I don't know of any such product here in Oz. Are we having a language problem with Morini? Do they ...

I found that on my Morini the thumb rest was too high and so after sanding it down, I added the stippled effect by lightly hammering with the point of a phillips screwdriver. To restore the seal to original I used a beeswax furniture polish of the type they use on antiques. Apply it generously, rub ...

Although I have owned a Morini short with the electronic trigger for close to 12 months now, I still haven't managed to top the scores I was getting with my old FWB Model 80. I still have the Model 80, although I have now put it up for sale. I will miss it when it goes. With the FWB-80 I had a top o...

I have been using a Unique DES 69U for quite a few years now. I purchased it secondhand and have had no trouble with it. Many of the members in our club use the Unique DES69 and we also have one as a club pistol which has had umpteen rounds through it with no problems. Here in Australia the Unique i...

Thanks guys I think I will leave it screwed on which was what I have been doing in the past. Some AP manufacturers suggest taking the cylinder off or at least releasing pressure. The Rohm Twinmaster has a little plastic spacer which fits between the gun and the cylinder when it is unscrewed about a ...

Morini air pistol - remove cylinder or not?

Hi all I am new to this forum and would like to know the thoughts of those more experienced on whether I should unscrew the compressed air cylinder from my Morini 162 air pistol after finishing shooting? Can it cause any damage being left on? I have been told I should back it off until I hear the ai...
